This rifle utilized a new type of barrel called an "octagon" barrel which allowed for greater accuracy and range than other types of barrels available at the time. In 1875, Sam Henshaw bought the gunsmithing business from Rev. Aiken. From then until 1910, Sam Henshaw manufactured all types of firearms including handguns, shotguns, rifles, shotguns (including pump action shotguns), rifles (including octagon barrel guns), pistols (including revolvers) and ammunition products including rounds for muzzleloaders and balloon guns

According to the 2010 census, the racial makeup of Bella Vista was 97% White (non-Hispanic), 2% Black or African American, 0% Native American, 1% Asian, and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 3% of the population.
