The racial makeup of the town was 96 percent White European American; 2 percent African American; and 0 percent Native American or other non-white ancestry according to Census data from 1990sennial surveys conducted by Ancestry USA Incorporated.. As of 2010 estimates released through 2016 United States Census count only 6 white citizens living permanently with no black person or any other minority race reported as permanent residents within 5 miles radius including 3 whites outside this radius living without any black person or any other minority race reported as such

Arkadelphia is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. Arkadelphia is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Arkadelphia were the Pee Dee Band of Creek Indians. They came down from Tennessee and established a small village on the Arkansas River near present-day White Settlement. In 1827, they moved their villages to what is now Arkadelphia when they were forced out of their original location by white settlers who had taken over their land. The first post office in Arkadelphia was established in 1829, and it remained open until 1865. Arkadelphia was laid out as a town on December 12, 1840 by Jno. Hoyle and Wm. Riddle with majority vote of all town residents; however incorporation as a city did not take place until February 3, 1868 by order of Governor John Fenton because there was no other municipality then in Pulaski County that could provide financial support for its establishment as an incorporated city under state law. As a result ofArkansas becoming one of 26 states which joined the Union on January 29th, 1861, many Arkadelphia businesses closed during that period including those run by most of its early mayors including Amos Nance (1851-1855), Hiram Bingham (1857-1859), James Cutchin (1861-1865), Ebenezer Sibley (1867-1901) and George Washington Goode (1902-1910). However many reopened once Union troops arrived to protect local interests following Confederate capitulation at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865: among these were Mayor Goode’s own store which reopened after being destroyed during the Civil War; Postmaster General John A Kapp’s office which reopened after being burned during the war; and several blacksmith shops which reopen soon afterwards despite difficulties obtaining saddles or horseshoes from Confederate forces retreating back into Tennessee following General Robert E Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865 In addition to these main business operations some smaller stores also opened up such as Jenkins & McDermott store; First National Bank; Tom Sawyer’s cotton gin; Gentry Brothers grocery store chain operated by Willis Gentry Sr.; Mrs Price’s bakery - this latter business having been founded by her daughter Sarah Price Gentry in 1875 Withdrawal of Ulysses S Grant fromoffice starting in Spring 1870 left little opportunity for economic growth with most citizens preferring to stay within their homes or join neighboring towns outside Pulaski County while Reconstruction began Thereafter Growth has been sporadic but steady with new construction beginning increasingly within downtown area especially since 2000 when development resumed along US 66 corridor bisecting town center
Arkadelphia is best known for its cattle and cotton crops, but the community also produced a number of other products. A paper mill was built in 1876, and later a shoe factory. The population grew rapidly during the late 19th century, and by 1920 Arkadelphia had about 3300 residents. However, economic opportunities declined during the Great Depression, and the population fell to 2000 by 1970. Since then, growth has resumed somewhat, but remains modest.
