Today, Arkadelphia remains an important center for trade and commerce within Pulaski County because of its location on Highway 356 close to Interstate 40 and Interstate 24 access points as well as its easy access to both rural areas outside of town as well as city-dwellers in Little Rock nearby. In addition, Arkadelphia offers excellent educational opportunities with three high schools - Springdale High School (grades 9-12), Central Middle School (grades 7-8) and Park Elementary School (grades 5-6) - along with four middle schools - Lakeshore Middle School (grades 6-7), Harlan Middle School (grades 7-8), Westside Middle School (grades 8-9) and Parkview Intermediate/High school ( grades 10-12).

Arkadelphia is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Arkadelphia is the county seat of Pulaski County. It is home to the Arkadelphia Air National Guard Base and to the Arkansas State Capitol. The first settler in what became Arkadelphia was Abram Dickson in 1824. He and his family built their cabin on the now-defunct Red Mountain Prairie near present-day Arkadelphia Air National Guard Base. In 1827, David Fenton bought land here from Abram Dickson and began developing it into a town with a courthouse and schools. Townspeople built homes between 1830 and 1840, when they started selling lots for purchase by settlers from around Arkansas Territory. By 1847, there were fifty buildings in town; two years later, there were ninety-six dwellings. When Isaac Newton arrived here in 1850, he set up shop as an independent farmer south of town on First Street. Newton soon became one of the most influential men in early Arkicestertian life – he donated land to build a schoolhouse (1851), helped found the Methodist Church (1855), served as mayor (1857–59) and postmaster (1859). In 1862 Union troops burned down parts of Arkadelphia during their invasion of central Arkansas; about 350 residents lost their lives in this raid that destroyed much property but did not damage any churches or other public buildings. Many people fled to neighboring towns before Confederate forces occupiedArklahoma City late that same year; few returned until after Union occupation ended five years later when Arkansas seceded from the United States In 1865, local merchant James Waddell founded an agricultural society called The Waddell Experiment Station to promote cotton farming throughout central Arkansas; this organization survived until 1915 when it merged with another local agricultural society called The Missouri Valley Agricultural Society to become known as ARKCHESTER VILLAGE SOCIETY Incorporated 1946-. After World War II saw growing competition for jobs among factories located miles away withinArkansas itself,[2] many people decided to move back into rural areas across state lines[3]; however, some aspects ofARKCHESTERVILLE's history continue today including its unique architecture which combines Federal style brick housing with locally quarried stone blocks
