The city was founded in 1881 by white settlers who had arrived from Texas and other parts of the U.S.A.. Arkadelphia grew rapidly during World War II as a result of its strategic location on the Arkansas River near Fort Smith and Tulsa. In 1945 it became one of the first cities in Arkansas to be desegregated when African Americans were allowed to vote without prior registration or proof of citizenship. The economy of Arkadelphia has grown increasingly based on services such as health care and education, although retail trade remains important. Industries that have been located in or around Arkadelphia include aluminum production, trucking and manufacturing; agriculture has provided employment for local farmers and family-owned businesses since before there was a professional agricultural community in this area. The largest employer outside of government is Tyson Foods, which operates an open-air factory in town that employs over 1,000 people across three floorspace totaling . Arkadelphia also hosts an annual music festival called "Fiesta del Campo" which features country music stars from all over North America performing at various venues throughout downtown from late May through early June each year

Arkadelphia is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 577 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–West Little Rock, AR-2 Metropolitan Statistical Area. Arkadelphia is located on the Arkansas River and it has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cwa). The first people to live in what is now Arkadelphia were the Mennonites who arrived there in 1836. They named their settlement "Moses City" after Moses of Egypt who led them out of slavery and into freedom. The first store in Arkadelphia was built by George Henshaw in 1839. In 1841, John Fenton erected a log cabin on the present site of Arkadelphia High School; he also raised cotton for sale there. In 1865, Jno. Waddell established a sawmill at what is now First Baptist Church and began to produce lumber for buildings and other items in Arkadelphia. By 1870, he had added an gristmill to his operations and had become one of the leading lumber interests in Pulaski County. That same year, James Aiken founded Heublein Drug Store & Grain Exchange here which continued until 1955 when it merged with Dillard's Department Stores Incorporated to form Dillard's Incorporated/Jardine Communications Corporation (ICC) parent company Jardine Holdings Incorporated). In 1915, Pamelia Beauregard married Colonel John Sitton (1869-1945), son of wealthy planter Samuel Sitton Sr., who had been born near Fort Smith, Arkansas but grew up on a plantation near Hereford where he learned modern agriculture techniques from his father before moving westward to serve as colonel under General Grant during World War I. Pamelia Beauregard was sister to Confederate general Robert Ewart Beauregard IV (1861-1929), husband of Lillie Belle Tyrrell Beauregard (1865-1959). Colonel Sitton served as military governor for much of eastern Arkansas during World War II before retiring from service in 1945 after its conclusion without ever gaining combat experience. Colonel Sitton died at his home southwest of Arkadelphia on October 9th 1945 after a long battle with leukemia.
On November 8th 1934 local resident Melvin Sampson donated land that would later be renamed Park Drive for future school students living east of town along Park Avenue between Second Street and Third Street south central Pulaski County USA . This donation became effective immediately upon issuance by Pulaski County Schools Superintendent Driscoll Greenleaf which stated "This park will provide opportunities not only for physical education but social intercourse also." originally known as 'Arkansas State Teachers' Home' this property became known thereafter simply as 'Arkessee State Teachers' Home'. On December 14th 1935 two large tractors belonging to Ira Patterson were destroyed by fire while being stored at his farm north east of town northeast corner US Highway 61 just east side Of Third Street about 2 miles North from current location OFBARKETTE . Ira Patterson was then charged with arson In 1937 approximately $5 thousand worth cash value was found hidden under some hay bales on private property behind Mrs Gertrude Byrd's house just outside city limits east side Main Street directly across street from original post office building still standing today within city limits - this money represented most likely illicit proceeds generated illegally by organized crime activity related to construction projects taking place around that time. On July 7th 1938 Union Pacific Railroad built an overpass spanning the Arkansas River just upstream from present dayArklington Cemetery between Broadway Bridge Road Bridge overriver and main road crossing below river bank creating temporary community called 'Union Pacific arkendale』 southernmost tip reached by Interstate 40 passing just beyond edgeOf old city limits late morning or early afternoonArkadelphia is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States.
