The history of target holders in Yuma, Arizona began with the formation of the Yuma Rifle and Pistol Club in 1907. The club used a number of different targets to shoot at, but eventually settled on a rifle target. The first rifle Target shooting competition was held in 1909. The club continued to use this target until 1915 when they replaced it with a pistol target. In 1918, the club changed their name to the Yuma Rifle and Pistol Club again and continued using the pistol target until 1923 when they switched back to the rifle target. In 1925, the club changed their name again to the Yuma Shotgun & Pistol Club and continued using their rifle target until 1948 when they switched back to their original pistolTarget name once again.
Yuma is a city in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 491 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Yuma's economy revolves around ranching and agriculture, with an important small-time manufacturing industry. Yuma has a mild Mediterranean climate that sees plenty of sunshine year-round. The city is located on the San Pedro River, which forms its eastern border. The Pima Indian Reservation lies to the east of Yuma and includes parts of what would later be incorporated as Yuma County. Spanish explorers discovered this area in 1693 when they rode through present-day Pima County on their way to explore Southern Arizona near Prescott. From here they began mapping and exploration of what would become Arizona Territory and founded Cochise Stronghold on February 14, 1788 – over 100 years before modern day Phoenix became a major metropolitan area! It wasn't until 1885 that railway construction began through Pima County for settlers heading westward into what is now Phoenix and Tucson along the Santa Fe Railway line; much like today, infrastructure was rudimentary at best and travelers faced many challenges trying to get where they were going without cars or horses! In fact, back then there were only two ways out from Yuma: either downriver (the Gila River) or upriver past Sells to connect with Prescott via wagon road … literally walking “the wild country”! In 1902 when Placer Dome opened as the world’s first uranium mine in this part of America, things changed for yumas who found themselves inundated with people looking for new farmland to settle after decades of being one of just a few remote villages in all of Arizona! farming had been done by hand since early Mexican times but uranium drilling brought huge waves of people and equipment right into town setting off a series of dramatic changes that forever transformed not just this little corner of Western America but also Australia where mining took off too! In 1930 both Nogales (to the south) and Cochinita Hills (to the north) became US towns while Paynesville (just outside today’s town limits) continued to serve as territorial capital until it was moved back inside City Limits in 1907 when Territorial Governor Jepson appointed Harry Laughlin our first Mayor!! Today we still celebrate Nogales Day each year as our annual celebration OF OUR CITY LIMITS !! When World War II hit Japan hard bringing production completely offline ´ everything stopped except for defense needs such as food storage requirements for troops training on bomber bases nearby ´ so much so that entire neighborhoods downtown were abandoned during those difficult times ! Today you can find remnants from these days including interesting shop fronts unique architecture from prewar era buildings still standing even though most have been destroyed by fire over time 😀 . There are also some beautiful preserved old Japanese houses scattered around town if you look hard enough 🙂 Yumas have always known how to work hard & play harder!, which likely helps explain why our economy has remained strong despite tough times throughout history
