A post office was established at present-day Yuma in 1881, and cattle drives brought settlers to the area beginning in 1882. The most important early business leaders were JOSEPH HUGHES (1862-1937), who established Hudsons Bay Company post office at present day downtown Yuma; WILBUR DAVIS (1872-1948), founder of Davis & Sons saloons; and WILLIAM JOHNSTONE (1880-1966), cofounder of Stone Mountain Brewery Inc., one of America's first craft breweries
