As manufacturing switched from handcrafted items to factory produced products during this time period there was an increase in shootings throughout the country which led to increased demand for firearm tattoos/printing services (Figure 2). The late 1990s saw a shift back towards traditional military prints with patriotic messages being prevalent (See Figure 3) However recent trends towards licensed character designs featuring Hollywood stars such as Tom Hanks or Reese Witherspoon have helped restart sales for these types of shirts among collectors who previously did not care about these type of prints ( See Figure 4). Today there is no doubt that firearm t-shirt printing is one of the most popular forms of apparel available online due to its widespread appeal both amongst collectors and shooters alike.

In 1912, Tempe was annexed by Phoenix and became part of its metropolitan area. The population reached nearly one hundred thousand by 1942 and grew even further during postwar years as a result of new development in Tempe. By 1970, Tempe had grown to encompass an area of about sixty-six square miles (two hundred seventy-six square kilometers).
