On October 15th 1961 at 5:50 pm MST an F-3 tornado touched down just east of town center killing two people and injuring twenty-three others before dissipating about 4 miles southeast ofGlendale Airport; this was also the last time any tornado touched down in Phoenix Valley district since 1930!
