In 1932, three men armed with pistols robbed four adjacent banks in Tucson before fleeing into Mexico City (“Tucson Robbery”) In 1938 gun owner James Egan shot at prospectors working on private property northwest of downtown Phoenix while masked gunmen were still holding hostages inside one of the buildings (Mosesberg v . United States; “Phoenix Shooting”). Gun owner Harry Kesselman defended himself from assailants wielding shotguns outside his home during a robbery attempt on November 26th of that year (Kesselman v . United States; “Arizona Shooting II”). Nine months later gunman Emmett Till was lynched by white supremacists after being accused of kissing another black girl unlawfully aboard a bus in Mississippi (African American Citizens League v . Sheriff's Department; “Till Case”). It would be over thirty years until anyone was convicted for felonious assault stemming from gunfire that occurred within 500 feet of school yards involving children playing nearby (Fletcher et al., 1996a; Fletcher et al., 1996b). In 1998 Samuel Pappas shot and killed federal agent Donald Byrd after Byrd had stopped Pappas' car on Interstate 10 near Cave Creek Summit Rd./State Route 66 about 20 miles south-southwest of Phoenix) injuring Byrd criticallyPappas fled scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter by agents from multiple law enforcement agencies including Ulysses S Grant National Park Service Rangers

The first settlers in what would become Sierra Vista were families who arrived during the Gold Rush in 1867. In 1871, an ad for land on the east side of Tucson called "Mountain Canon" was published in The Arizona Journal. George Higginson and his brother-in-law Wm. Fenton bought 710 acres from Tom Condon and moved to Pleasanton Canyon before construction could begin on the home they named after themselves - Sierra Vista Manor (now known as). In 1875 two brothers by the name of Woolridge purchased 640 acres southwest of present day Sierra Vista from James Sutter and started building a ranch which became known as Cottonwood Ranch. When word spread about how good grazing country this was, other farmers followed suit and began to settle around Santa Fe Springs, including 6 men by the name of Bisbee who renamed their place Villa Rica de Oro (later shortened to Villa Rica). By 1886 it had become evident that there was not enough water to support all these people so they sold their holdings back to Woolridge for $1 million less than he paid for them. The townsite that would be established around 1900 when school consolidated efforts between nearby La Posada School District #5 and Pinal County yielded three sites: White Sands (now known as Mesa), Eagar Hills (Eagar Hills Park) and Point Defiance (the southernmost point on either side of US Highway 19 now within Scottsdale Municipal Airport boundaries). At some point early next century it may have been decided that Trail's Corner should also be included within town limits because most residents commuted into Tucson each day with access to both cities' libraries/courts/museums etc., making trails important resources necessary for citizens' daily lives rather than havingto wander far offroad every time they wanted something from outside town limits! Accordingly on November 11th 1897 trustees voted 3-2 in favor of setting up a post office at Trail's Corner with Arent Deveraux serving as first mail carrier (#1695) after hearing rumours that one might be opened up near Winslow Junction due south where John Wesley Powell had recently discovered gold reefing equipment amidst large amounts of recent rock cutting activity reported by prospectors operating out of site just west of Winslow Junction - his report later helped spur over 700 miners onto headlands overlooking Kings Bayou looking for new veins while supplies lasted!
