Sierra Vista is a city in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 30,752 at the 2010 census. The town of Sierra Vista was founded in 1887 by Judge John C. Fremont and his wife Fanny Green. It was named after Mount Evans, which straddles the Mexican-American border and is east of Tucson. The post office was founded in 1888 and changed its name to Sierra Vista in 1912. In 1916, the Territorial Legislature enacted legislation appropriating $10,000 for the construction of a school within the city limits; this school became known as "Arizona State Normal School". In 1937, annexation by Tucson made Sierra Vista an incorporated municipality with its own government and taxes; it remained an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became part of Tucson proper. According to the 2000 US Census there were 31,883 people living in Sierra Vista proper (including 2 annexations) as of July 1st 2002 – up from 27,711 on July 1st 1997 when Tucson annexed parts of Sierra Vista proper As of October 15th 2009 there are 33,045 residents living in the City Of Sierra Vista Proper according to Population Estimates from US Census Bureau
Sierra Vista is a small town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sierra Vista is east of Phoenix and south of Tucson proper. It is bordered to the north by Apache Junction and to the west by Maricopa County. The first white people to visit what would become Sierra Vista were prospectors on October 15, 1867. They named their new community after Mount Whitney in California – Sierra Vida in Spanish – because they could not find any other name for where they were going to live. In 1880, an agricultural society was organized and began selling land near present-day Sierra Vista for development into farms that would provide food for local residents as well as export crops such as wheat and cattle from Mexico into North America. By 1902, there were over sixty farms in operation around present-day Sierra Vista with a total production value of $1 million dollars worth of goods exported annually! On July 14th, 1912, during a heat wave that made life difficult for all across Arizona, residents of nearby Apache Junction petitioned county officials to create a Municipal Court so that ranching operations could be properly addressed without having to go through the trouble of going through county court which was often slow and clogged with paperwork. The request was granted and on August 1st, 1912 the first Municipal Court meeting took place in what would eventually become Sierra Vista! During World War II many businesses were taken over by the government or closed due to rationing; however most businesses survived thanks to their customers who kept them open during tough times! On December 15th 1941 at 3:00pm local time when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor causing America’s entry into World War II many citizens gathered outside their homes waiting anxiously for news updates… only to find out that all phone service had been cut off! However despite this setback Most people persevered as they knew their country needed them! After four years of war it was finally known U.S forces had won!! On January 6th 1990 President George H W Bush signed Executive Order 9066 ordering all Immigration status hearings consider applications from certain nationalities ( categories I thru IV) regardless if these individuals had already been deported or not!!! This effectively terminated Childhood Arrivals program which had given amnestynesty unto certain illegal aliens who had entered our country before 1986!!! Many natives didn’t understand what this meant until after 9/11 when planes started crashing into Twin Towers…. everyone suddenly got it!!!!!! Some people even say those events ledto more immigration!!!!!!!!!!!!! In February 2001 Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced he would stop arresting nonviolent criminals who haveied themselves removable notices….. now we can call them “Dreamers”!!!!!!!!!! Now everybODY knows about DACA………..except maybe Trump

Sierra Vista is a census-designated place in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,946 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Sierra Vista was William Harker on February 11, 1885. Harker and his wife Anna founded the town of Atchison, Kansas on their land near present-day Sierra Vista. Harker's brother Cyrus also settled in what is now Sierra Vista in 1889. In 1905 John Wesley Powell visited Atchison and saw that it had been abandoned and decided to explore Apache Basin country further east instead. He named this new area "Sierra Vista" after a mountain range located about 12 miles (19 km) away from Atchison proper on the border of Cochise and Pima Counties. In 1912 gold was found at Sillito Creek by prospectors led by Harry Wickersham; this discovery helped spur development around Sillito Creek because it made possible easy access to supplies for miners travelling through Apache Canyon from elsewhere in Arizona Territory. In 1916 Congress passed an act authorizing the President to establish a national park within Piñon National Forest; as a result, Sierra Vista became part of Piñon National Park on November 17, 1916.[1] As First Nations people have lived here for centuries before white settlers arrived, there are many references to Indigenous peoples living here throughout history including tracks left by ancient Hopi herdsmen journeying up Apache Peak into today's Yosemite National Park during springtime migrations;[2][3][4] as well as evidence Native Americans hunted bighorn sheep within three miles (5 km) of current day Sierra Vista Village beginning prehistory Apenas inhabited this area between 8300 BP and 7000 BP according to archeological excavations carried out since 1984 at two sites submerged under water along Sillito Creek called Site A-12/14 which yielded Pitcherok artifacts dating back 9500 BP including beads decorated with relief designs,[5][6][7] one of which has been authenticated as being from an important early NAUI site known as Chuppahiekka (formerly Chupaalikki), located immediately upstream from where Sillito Creek empties into the Gila River[8],[9]. These findings suggest that Indigenous peoples were presence in present day eastern Pima County long before any European travelers set foot here—indeed some even refer to these areas remote regions too difficult or dangerous for Europeans even attempted exploration! However much like so many other aspects about our region’s history there appears little written or documented about such activities until recently due primarily to concerns over potential copyright infringements should such materials be shared outside official government sanctioned preserves! So while some may still question whether or not indigenous folks actually did live here prior to contact with Europeans thankless efforts continueongoing today by archaeologists working with public funding agencies(such as AncestryDNA)[10], all attempts are being madeto document & protect such invaluable cultural heritage!
