During World War II, many soldiers stationed in Tucson fought alongside the US military at Desert Base Camp near present-day Sierra Vista. Among these men were General George Smedley Butler and Admiral Chester Nimitz. In 1957, when Arizona became an independent state, it annexed portions of Pima County including most of what is now Sierra Vista village and surrounding hills. In 1959, the town name changed to honor General James Hatton Butler (1847-1925), one of America’s leading commanders during World War I and World War II who served as Commander-in-Chief of United States Forces Southwest Pacific Area from 1944 until his death in 1945. Sierra Vista has experienced rapid growth since its incorporation into the community registry in 1959; today it has a population of over 2,000 people within its boundaries alone! From agricultural activities such as raising chickens or pigs to manufacturing firms such as Boeing Company or The Home Depot®, businesses have thrived here while still keeping close ties with their rural origins!

Sierra Vista is a small town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 705 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Sierra Vista were the Hohokam Indians who built villages on both sides of the San Pedro River and along its course. These carved images from wood are still visible today in various parts of town. The fertile land east of the San Pedro River was given to Mexico by American Treaty #8 in 1848. This treaty resulted in an agreement between Mexico and the United States that allowed access to part of Arizona for settlement by Americans. In 1858, two Mormons, Lorenzo Snow and George Romney, traveled through Pima County looking for a place to settle which led them to choose Sierra Vista as their new home due to its proximity to Mormon Fort Concho and easy access to water resources. On July 1, 1860, John Wesley Powell discovered gold near present-day North Peak while exploring US Capital Region under Mexican rule with General Antonio López de Santa Anna as his commanding officer. As a result of this discovery, Sierra Vista became one of the most important towns in America during this time because it had access to supplies and gold seekers could travel easily into surrounding counties for raiding purposes or prospecting for new veins of gold and silver. The population grew rapidly during this time as people from all over Northern Arizona flocked here seeking fortune and adventure; many arriving on pack trains which crossed the river via ferry from Pinal County across from Phoenix). By 1870 about 350 people lived in Sierra Vista with about 25% Indian descent; however little development occurred until after World War I when commercial mining began operations here following discoveries made along Interstate 10 corridor including Gold King Mine (1964), Don Carlos mine (1968) and Bruce Mines (1976). However these mines did not produce significant quantities until later stages due diligence errors within American Mining Company’s management which caused environmental damage associated with overproduction/exploitation that has continued ever since; recently causing some local businesses such as Metalsmith Inc., Copper Mountain Coffee Roasters & Bakery LLC., Canyon Lake RV Park & Marina LLC., Glen Canyon Car Wash & RV Resort LLC., Mail Order Preference Shop inc., etc.) which have closed down despite being able to operate profitably for decades up until last year when they were finally shuttered by creditors after years OPERATING IN A DANGEROUS CONDITION! Despite having been operating profitable since before NAFTA went into effect there has never been any formal action taken against AMERICAN MINE COMPANY other than letters received by customers indicating problems with product quality control) even though they KNOW ABOUT THEM! Many residents are leaseholders on properties leased long past their original expiration dates without ever noticing or caring! All citizens must show ID just prior enter if wanted services like water or grocery located within blocks radius but no liquor store exists closer than 5 miles radius? Some residents feel like they are living in a “fantasy world” where nothing ever happens because “the company will take care of everything” however recent events have shown that this may not be the case at all!
