Plymouth Rock Inn was built on Topock Road between First Street and Second Street in 1924 by Don & Florence Whitehead after they bought 6 acres adjacent to their original hotel building on Fourth Street in 1925 for $1,500 US Dollars (). Plymouth Rock became one of Main Street’s most popular tourist destinations with its wide variety of restaurants, hotels, stores and art galleries over the years including numerous Nuarte Award winners such as DonatellO Salvatorello’s Italian restaurant which received two consecutive awards from the National Restaurant Association in 1984/85 and 1985/86; Plaza Motel built next door moved into its current location across First Avenue from Main Street – just south of where DonatellO Salvatorello’s once stood - becoming America's first motel chain when it opened its doors on November 12th 1948 with 141 rooms spaced evenly throughout three stories within walls made entirely out of white marble! Today many descendants still live or work at Plymouth Rock Inn including current management team which includes grandson #2 Jeffrey Whitehead who took over operations upon his father's death in 2013; daughter #3 Teresa Starrs who has been general manager since 2014.. An important event leading up to World War II occurred when General James Beattie landed at Goldwater Lake International Airport airstrip east side Of town about 8 miles NorthEastof town about 1915 for emergency purposes only immediately prior To 2nd Battle Of Yuma (February 14 – 15 1914) With approximately 2500 troops he commandeered 4 Cessna Aircraft belonging To Captain Burt Laughlin Towing Company For transportation Home After military victory Over Enemy forces At Yuma River This marked beginning Of A New Era For AZ Territorial Army !
On the morning of November 8, 1912, a violent storm swept across the Arizona Territory. A Category 5 hurricane had formed over Mexico and was making its way towards the east coast of America. The National Weather Service in Phoenix forecast that this would be one of the worst storms to hit the area in many years. As the storm approached, residents in Show Low began to prepare for what they knew would be an apocalyptic event. They gathered supplies and made arrangements with friends and family to leave as soon as possible. The storm quickly intensified into a Category 6 hurricane. By 11am, it had become so powerful that it caused widespread destruction across much of central Arizona. by 2pm, it had reached within 100 miles of Phoenix and was expected to bring even more damage before weakening somewhat early evening. In all, around 100 people died in direct impacts from Hurricaneonz; most were killed when trees became uprooted and collapsed onto homes or when buildings were smashed by wind and raindrops. Some 3 thousand people were also homeless after being forced out of their homes during or following the storm.
