Some of the earliest gun magazines in Show Low, Arizona were started by J.C. Higgins and W.D. Howland in 1892. The first issue of the "Flagstaff Gazette" was published on July 3, 1892. Gun magazine production increased exponentially during the late 19th century as military pistols became more popular and ammunition became available at cheaper prices. By 1899, there were over 100 gun magazines operating in Show Low alone and they produced an average of one issue per week.
Show Low is a small town located in Pima County, Arizona. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1885 by Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad employees who were looking for a place to safe from the Bustle of Phoenix. They named their new community after Show Low Creek, which flowed through their land. Today, Show Low’s Main Street retains many of its original features such as the sawmill that still provides lumber for much of the town’s construction and remodeling needs; as well as the post office (established in 1903). In addition to its small grocery store and restaurant scene, Show Low also has several bars/pubs including The Saloon (opened in 1907), The Dugout (opened in 1924), and The Grain Store (opened in 1927). In recent years, ShowLow has seen an influx of new residents with retirees moving into nearby Sun City East and Goodyear Canyon while students have moved into towns like Glendale andScottsdale to take advantage of larger schools there. A large number of businesses are located on Third Street which runs along both sides of Main Street between Old Town Square and Park Avenue. These include local hardware stores such as Hardware World(founded 1951), Midas (1952), Denny's(1978) & Chili's(1981); truck stop restaurants BigCountrywestern BBQ(1991), Churros Mexicano Cafe(1998), Pizza Hut(2002) ; fast food restaurants Taco Bell[2001], Wendy's[1996], Subway[1994] ; antiques dealers Richters Antiques([2005]), Sotheby's([2006]) . There are also several small churches including First Baptist Church ([2008]), Holy Cross Parish Episcopal ([2009]), Mount Carmel Lutheran Church ([2010]), Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Parish Refugee Center [2011]). Most important to show low residents is the library which serves as a social center for locals, children playing outside during school hours or parents dropping off or picking up their kids from daycare; it opened its doors in 1966. Additionally there is a park called "Old Town Square" near downtown that offers easy access to hiking trails around nearby mountains as well as plenty of places to eat within walking distance including three pizza places with outdoor seating plus two cafes - one open air with views over downtown since 1978 - One Steakhouse & Lounge,[2013],[2014] African American Cultural Center,[2015],[2016] . Finally there are several art galleries located throughout town promoting regionalism alongside national trends such as contemporary art from AZ United States Artists Gallery[2017],[2018], Kansas City based artist Shauna Weitzman.[2019]. Overall Show Low has become known for being home to some pretty interesting people with diverse interests who come together each week for various activitieshows.,

The Show Low massacre took place on November 25, 1912, when a group of young men and women in Arizona decided to take part in an outdoor party hosted by the local rancher George E. Smith. They were unarmed and unprepared for the fierce desert weather. The party quickly turned into a battle as the participants fought for control of an inheritance they had no business possessing. Eleven people were killed, including nine children, before anyone realized what was happening. The Massacre is one of America's most notorious unsolved crimes and has been cited as one of the most senseless massacres in American history.
On Saturday, January 25, 1907, the town of Show Low was founded in central Arizona by William P. Stephens and his wife Fannie. The town was named for a low pass that separates the Mogollon Mountains from the Phoenix area. Show Low was an agricultural community with several small businesses and a few hundred residents. The first post office opened in 1909. In 1912, the Stephens family donated land to the city of Phoenix for a new municipal center. On November 12, 1916, Show Low incorporated as a city with a population of 100 citizens. In 1922, local farmers developed what is now known as Old Town Square which became home to many businesses including several banks and two churches. The Great Depression hit Show Low hard with unemployment reaching 50% in 1932. In 1936, Mayor Rufus Sutherlin awarded cash prizes to fifty high school students for their excellence in business and industry during 1933-34 academic year; this program continues to this day as the City’s “Prominence Award” system. In 1941-42, following World War II military service by both men and women in agencies such as Coast Guard Station Mesa Verde (now Scottsdale Municipal Airport) and Army Air Forces Station Page Field (now Sky Harbor International Airport),Show Low experienced its first postwar boom period when more than seventy businesses were established including ten banks, six movie theaters (the first being Republic Pictures), four restaurants/bars/cafes, three auto dealerships and thirteen housing units (eight single family homes). However during 1945-46 when local producers failed to meet government quotas for atomic bomb testing on nearby Mohave County soil,[1] economic conditions deteriorated quickly leading to widespread poverty among most inhabitants characterized as "bums" or " riffraff". After years of struggle against political odds culminating in incorporation into the state of Arizona,[2][3][4] on July 1st 1948,[5][6][7] at long last[8] Show Low became an unincorporated community within Apache County once again loyal only to itself!
