Many shooters started using riflestocks to improve their shooting ability and increase their range. From 1922 until 1949, Gunfighter magazine published an annual issue dedicated to firearms technology and firearm equipment; within this issue, articles about riflestocks appeared throughout different sections such as pistols and shotguns. In 1950, Gunfighter Magazine merged with National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which became the official publication for American firearms competitions worldwide. As a result of this merger, all gun competition magazines became national publications under NSSF control

San Luis is a census-designated place in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The name "San Luis" comes from the Nahuatl word "southern luis," meaning "place where water floweth." Spanish settlers arrived in 1847 and named it SanLuis de Bighorn, after General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's victory over Mexican forces at Battle of Buenavista on October 14, 1847. The post office was founded in 1868 and first called Tuxtla Gutiérrez. In 1912, the community changed its name to SanLuis because of the Saint Lucy feast day that year. A post office called SanLuis was established at Tuxtla Gutiérrez on October 14, 1868 (from pinal meaning mountain). The name change came about because of conflict between residents over whether to call it SanLuís or Tuxtla Gutiérrez. Eventually both names were accepted and the current spelling became official when a new ZIP code was created for Pinal County in 1959. According to the 2010 US Census there are 1,871 people living in San Luis – down from 2,036 as of 2000 It has been consistently shrinking since then but still remains one of Pinal County's most populous towns with an estimated population size of just under 11K today despite having had very little growth since 2000

In 1848, San Luis was founded as a Mormon colony by Brigham Young and his men. The settlement was located on the San Pedro River about 25 miles southeast of modern-day Phoenix. In 1863, following the Mexican-American War, the United States acquired Tucson from Mexico for $2 million in what is now known as the Pinal County Land Grant Act. The new territorial government named Tucson "San Luis," which it used until 1912 when Arizona became a state. The town rapidly grew during its first years, with residents coming from all over southern Arizona to find work in the new territory. By 1875, there were more than 100 people living in San Luis proper. However, by 1893 San Luis had fallen into obscurity due to population growth in nearby Phoenix and other thriving towns statewide. However, a timely revival led to business opportunities for the townspeople and an increase in infrastructure development such as water supply and schools; this also helped spur tourism industry that continues to be a mainstay of San Luis today. One highlight of early San Luis history was its role as a stop on stagecoaches traveling between Prescott Valley (northwest Tucson) and New York City via Los Angeles County. This service operated until 1862 whenStagecoach Ranchero Co., owner Don Carlos Alvarado donated land at Indian Wells south of downtown to build up what is today's Pasadena Avenue Bridge crossing Interstate 10 near El Mirage Boulevard (now Loop 101). The bridge opened on July 9, 1876; however, due to high traffic volumes it remained closed intermittently for many years before reopened on October 12th 1984 after being renovated by then-Governor Jan Brewer using state money - making it one of only three crossings remaining open across I-10 (the others are Monument Valley Road Bridge north of Scottsdale and Tolleson Boulevard east of Tempe). As part of larger efforts to improve transportation options within state boundaries during that era, Governor Brewer shifted resources from road construction projects statewide towards improving railroads throughout Arizona under her leadership - this included constructing two new interstates: I-10/Arizaland Drive at Gilbert and I-8/Mt Pleasant Parkway northeast of Tempe – both opening in 2006. Today both highways still play important roles in our region: I-10 provides access to central Phoenix while I-8 allows travelers reaching Maricopa Junction – gateway to Mohave National Forest – without havingTo drive south through Surprise or Glendale
In the early 1800s, San Luis was a small settlement on the border between Tucson and San Diego. The area now known as San Luis Valley was first populated by the Tempehascans, who were Ute Indian traders. In 1836, Mexico ceded San Tomas Provinces to America in return for California. As part of that deal, American settlers founded SanLuis in 1838. By 1850, the town had grown to over 1,000 residents. In 1853, Arizona Territory was created from portions of Mexican and American territories.San Luis became one of the towns within Arizona Territory. In 1861, following the outbreak of the Civil War, Arizona Territory was divided into two parts: northern Arizona became ConfederateArizona; while southern Arizona remained UnionArizona. In 1865, California took over Nevada because that territory was being disputed between Mexico and America. The California government decided that both sections should be combined into a single new state called California (position held until 1907). As a result of this decision, most of Southern Arizona passed to California while most of Northern Arizona passed to Nevada.
