Gun parts history in San Luis, Arizona began with the Gunsmith shop on Main Street. The first gun was made in 1892 by Wm. Fenton and Sons of San Luis, a small town east of Tucson. In 1911, P.D. Higgins started manufacturing parts for shotguns in San Luis and soon became one of the leading manufacturers of shotgun parts in the United States. In 1928, Higgins merged with Remington Arms Company and continued to produce shotgun parts until company closure in 1978. Today there are several gun shops that continues to produce firearms components including those operated by P.D. Higgins Firearms LLC., which is located at 6353 N 38th Avenue Suite 222, Tucson AZ 85712; Alongside these business operations are also three production plants that make rifle barrels: Western Barrels Inc., Northwest Barrels Inc., and Eastern Barrels Incorporated located in Prescott Valley AZ 96513; as well as two tooling plants that make handguns: Southern Tooling Solutions LLC and Midwest Tooling Solutions LLC both located adjacent to Interstate 10 just outside of downtown San Luis, AZ 85701 The first handgun was made by Smith & Wesson Corporation back in 1903 using portions from an old rifle barrel making plant built by John Brown & Co.. The first pistols were patterned off bolt action rifles chambered for .22 rimfire cartridges which were being used at the time for target shooting or competition purposes only. It wasn’t until 1907 when Colt began producing revolvers based on their Model 1885 revolver design featuring a new frame work called the “Patriots Frame” they continued to use until 1911 when they developed their own design utilizing a new type of metal calledsteel which allowed them to produced more reliable handguns with increased firepower than any other pistol producer at this time including Thompson & Wesson who had earlier produced similar designs using brass frames In 1932 Springfield Armory began production of what is considered to be the most famous pistol ever designed-the Colt Python which featured a six round magazine capacity (later upgraded to eight rounds) an alloy frame (instead of wood) designated 7x55mmR ( later changed to 7x39mmR) giving it greater lethality due its large cartridge capacity compared to most pistols then available at this time including Thompson & Wesson models however this weapon went out Of Production after only 4 years due simply to World War II shortages while Smith & Wesson’s weapons remained operational By 1948 all handgun production had stopped worldwide except for Springfield Armory whereupon they resumed manufacture starting with their newly designed M1911A1 Pistol

The city of San Luis, Arizona is located in the Mexican state of Pima. The area that makes up today's San Luis was first settled by the Cahuilla people in the late 1800s. By 1920, however, San Luis had only 10 residents and was abandoned due to its low population growth rate. In 1928, José Joaquín Benavides y Salazar donated 640 acres (250 hectares) to the City of Tucson for use as open space. This donation became known as Benavides Park. In 1938, Lázaro Cárdenas became president of Mexico and issued an executive order calling for all public lands in Mexico to be homesteaded. As part of this order, Cárdenas offered $5 per acre (0.24 hectare) for donations to be made to the government in order to create public land allotments within Pima County. Over time, many small towns and villages have been established around San Luis because they felt that their community would benefit from having more access to education and infrastructure improvements than if they lived in remote areas outside of Los Angeles or Phoenix. In 1969-1970, Donny Dean set out on a journey across America with his wife Lois Anne Dean trying to collect items related to American Indian history throughout North America including artifacts from what is now Arizona. After four monthsthey had accumulated nearly 1700items including pottery shardsfrom Chaco Canyon and arrowheads from Apache Stronghold sowhich are now displayed at Museum Of American Indians in Mesa AZ). After completing their journey they returned homeand donated mostof theircollectiontothe UniversityofArizona Libraryin Tucson where it remains on display today
In 1849, Mexican Americans and Anglo Californians founded San Luis Rey Mission, which is now the older part of Tucson. The mission was located on a small hill in what is now the city of Tucson. In 1853, the Mexican government gave up its claim to California and thus Tucson became part of Mexico.
