In 1875, George Washington Hill, who was then the captain of a ranch in San Luis, Arizona, started selling bipods. Hill's bipods were designed to be easy and fast to use for packing and carrying goods. The first bipods were made from wood and leather. In 1924, two brothers named Harry and Ernie Hale developed the first self-propelled agricultural transport vehicle, called the Hale Biped. The Hales' bipod was used on their farm truck to move crops with ease. By 1935, all farmers in San Luis had access to self-propelled vehicles. The development of the Jeep led to the growth of agriculture in central Arizona. With more efficient transportation methods available, farmers became able to bring their crops closer to consumers. In 1947, Jimmie Moore started manufacturing self-propelled tractors using a type of machine that would lift tractor tires off the ground and drop them into a bucket which would carry them onto an adjacent piece of property where they could be plowed or harrowed by hand. This method allowed for greater efficiency in farming as well as less time spent on preparatory work such as planting and watering plants

Today some residents commute to jobs elsewhere in Arizona or California while others stay put to raise their families hereabouts.

The first post office in San Luis opened in 1868. The population of the city increased rapidly throughout the 1800s due to its location at the crossroads of several wagon routes. Many businesses were established in San Luis during this time including a bakery, lumberyard, printing press, grocery store and hotel. The arrival of railroads during the late 19th century helped to spur economic development in San Luis. By 1915, there were over 50 businesses operating within the limits of the city. Many important milestones occurred duringSanLuis' history such as its incorporation as a municipality on November 3rd, 1912; establishment as an agricultural center with fifteen irrigated farms; passage of Proposition 66 which authorized irrigation projects throughout Phoenix County; election victory by Mayor Currie against incumbent John Heidenreich on November 5th, 1954; creation of three police districts (Northwest Heights/Southwest Hills/East Valley) within Phoenix County; establishment as home to two universities (Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University) ; construction of Interstate 10 through town - now part of Scottsdale - leading to rapid growth and suburbanization within town boundaries . During World War II many local military personnel used their homes as barracks for troops stationed nearby at Camp McDowell near present-day Goodyear AFB . After wars ended many families moved out into suburbs while others renovated old buildings or developed new ones .
In 1869, San Luis was founded by the surveyors Lorenzo and Manuel Ortiz. It became a town in 1872. The first post office was established in 1881. In 1912, the name of the town was changed to San Luis County after it was created from parts of Pima and Maricopa counties. The county seat is Tucson
