Sahuarita is a small city located in Pima County, Arizona. It was founded in 1881 by Spanish settlers as a trading post on the Saguaro Lake. The Post office was renamed Sahuarita in 1912 and it continues to be the name of the city today. The first inhabitants of what is now Sahuarita were Native American traders who traveled along the upper Colorado River between Tucson and Yuma Seeking trade goods with the local Navajos, Hopis, and other indigenous groups. In 1881, some Spanish colonists arrived from Chihuahua to establish a rancho (farmstead) called Rancho San Pedro de la Luz y Valle at present-day Sahuarita. The original town site was about 9 miles long by 3 miles wide and lay at an elevation of 2,500 feet (600 m). The town quickly developed into a busy Trading Post with goods being sold both locally and across the river to Cochise County. Passenger trains brought visitors here for scenic views during their travels through Pima County on their way to see Monument Valley or Flagstaff. The first school opened in Sahuarita in 1892 when teachers from Prescott moved into the old adobe building that had been used as a jail since 1887. Today’s school has been replaced multiple times over its history but retains some interesting features such as its bell tower which can still be seen today! In 1912, following World War I, Congress passed An Act entitled “An act providing for organization of certain counties within Arizona Territory” which created Pima County out of part of Cochise County west of Phoenix Road (now US 64). As part of this new county, Sahuarita became one of its largest cities with a population size approaching 100 residents! Today, much like many other small towns throughout America, Sahuarita continues to enjoy stability despite various challenges faced by its citizens such as economic downturns and volatility in regional commodity prices; however it does have some unique aspects that set it apart from other similar communities including its location next to one of reservoir's formed by three earthquakes in 1957 totaling 6 magnitude 7+ events!

The town was founded by Don Carlos Sánchez and his family in 1875 as a small Mexican post on the east side of what is now Mohave County. After Mexico's independence from Spanish rule in 1821, Sancho Ygnacio de la Peña y Costilla granted land to Don Carlos for $5 per acre (1/4 mile²). The first store and school were built in 1876. In 1886,Sánchez donated an acre (0.40 km²) northeast of town to establish the Sahuarita Military Cemetery, which remains one of Pima County's most popular tourist destinations today. In 1912, Sahuarita became one of the first U.S.-Mexico border towns to be established when it was combined with neighbouring Naco Valley into the new agency called Tohono O’odham Nation under Indian Act law (). The name "Sahuarita" means "place where water flows". The cotton industry began to take hold in Sahuarita after World War II; however it has since been supplanted by other industries such as medical technology and information technology.(Cotton ginners used to do their work outside until they got indoor facilities.) A large number of high-tech companies have their headquarters or major offices here including Intel Xeon Chipset Technology Center., Oracle Corporation Headquarters (), Microsoft Corporation Headquarters (), Adobe Systems Incorporated (), Qualcomm Technologies Incorporated () and about 25 smaller companies.(As early as 2002 over half a million people worked here indirectly through businesses that share services with these larger companies.) currently there are no big factories left but lots of small businesses providing many jobs.: According to Forbes magazine’s List Of America’s Fastest Growing Cities 2009-2015 Sahuarita had an annual GDP growth rate above 20%. In 2016 this figure had increased marginally to 24%. There are several museums located throughout downtown which include: Museum Of American History (.9 miles away), Museum Of Apache Culture (.8 miles away), Phoenix Art Museum (.7 miles away), Mesa Verde National Park Museum (.3 miles away) and Desert Mountain Preserve Collection museum (.2 miles away). There is also a Sprinkles restaurant located on Commerce Street across from Macy’s Department Store which offers great food all day long!
