The decline of Queen Creek began when railroad transportation became available to larger towns in Apache County. By 1911, only six residents lived in Queen Creek; by 1920 only four remained. In 1930, all but one resident left for good due to economic reasons (the exception being an elderly woman who continued to live there until her death in 1984).
