Queen Creek, Arizona is a small town located in the Phoenix metropolitan area. It was founded in 1912 by H.L. Queen and his family. The original name of the town was "Queen City" because it had a population of only 100 people. The Queen Creek Shotgun Club was formed in 1927 and has been active ever since. The club set up a shooting range and built a clubhouse in 1935. In 1951, the club merged with the Phoenix Gun Club to form the Phoenix Gun-Club Shooting Association (PGCSA). The PGCSA is still active today and operates its own range as well as hosting many shoots throughout the year at different locations around Queen Creek. In 1979, Queen Creek became an incorporated municipality and changed its name to Queen Creek Township. On October 1, 1998, Queen Creek Township changed its name again to Queen Creek Municipal Corporation due to increased growth within the community ¾ which had taken place since incorporation¾ including development of new businesses such as fitness centers, restaurants, pharmacies, schools and more! Today, Queen Creek Municipal Corporation offers residents all sorts of services from zoning ordinances that pertain to land use to fire prevention measures that are put into place for public safety reasons ¾ everything from making sure no one builds on Agricultural land without getting proper permits to ensuring that all children attending local schools have access to safe playgrounds!
