Some of the earliest examples of technology that helped make firearms more safe include pistols and revolvers that fired percussion rounds (from 1845), as well as metallic cartridges which did not spark when shot (1868). Pistol grip safeties were developed in the early 1900s to prevent handguns from being stolen. In 1932, NRA founder James A. Ballinger introduced an article in "The Saturday Evening Post" called "How to Keep Your Gun Safe", which advocated for making guns easier to operate and store, and for installing security devices such as triggers locks, keyless access controls, and digital disarmament systems. In 1968, Richard M. Nixon became the 44th President of the United States after winning the U.S. presidential election with a platform advocating for stricter gun control laws following the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., Robert F Kennedy, and John Lennon. The president signed into law two bills expanding background checks on all buyers before sales could take place and increasing fines for those who violated these regulations. This was followed by further measures in response to shootings across America which killed three people and injured dozens more over several months in 1969-1970
Queen Creek is a small town in Arizona, just outside the Phoenix metropolitan area. It was founded in 1867 by Mormon pioneers as a seasonal stop on their way to the Salt Lake Valley. The first store and post office were built in Queen Creek. In 1870, Queen Creek was incorporated as a village. The population of Queen Creek peaked at 350 in 1920, but has since declined due to various factors such as emigration and mining accidents. Queen Creek is located ondefinenment of the Indian National Monument (NNM). The NNM protects Native American archaeological sites within its boundaries. In 1978, the NNM designated Queen Creek an archeological district which provides funding for Archeological survey and excavation projects within its boundaries. Archeological research at four queen creek archeological sites has revealed evidence of pre-historic human activity dating back to 9,000 years ago. Queen Creek was originally part of the Apache tribe’s territory during the 17th century Apache Wars fought between Spanish colonists and Apaches. After Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821, Mexican land grants were made available to Apache tribes across what is now Arizona and New Mexico Territory including parts of today’s Arizona and Sonora Counties respectively. In 1867, Mormon pioneers traveled through Apache country searching for new homes after fleeing LDS polygamy troubles in Utah. When they reached Queen Creek about halfway between Tucson and Yuma they found it deserted because most people had gone west with Brigham Young to create a new kingdom called Zion subject only to God's will according to Mormons beliefs at that time In 1870, two years after Queen Creek was incorporated as a village under Maricopa County jurisdiction, citrus fruit farmer George Waddell donated land south of town for an irrigation ditch that would allow him to sell his fruit direct to consumers without going through local farmers or merchants who provided transportation and escorts while he transported his product northward along I-19
Queen Creek is located in the Phoenix metropolitan area and was named for the creek that flowed through its center. The first European to visit Queen Creek was Antonio de Oro, who explored it in 1692 during Spanish colonial times. It wasn't until 1869 that Mormon pioneers arrived in Queen Creek, and began building a settlements along the creek. The town of Queen Creek was founded on April Fool's Day 1869 by Brigham Young and others associated with the LDS church.
