The first guns in Queen Creek were rifles and pistols made by local farmers and ranchers around 1875. By 1902, there were three pistol mills in Queen Creek and over 100 rifle mills as well. Gun production continued until about 1930 when World War II began to cause a decline in firearms production. Her husband was born at the Presidio Real de Tucson on October 17, 1786. Queen Creek first appeared on charts as early as 1790. It has been variously spelled "Quesnel" and "Queen's creek." In 1835 it was given to Mexican soldiers who were stationed there until they were withdrawn in 1847 when the U.S.-Mexico border was established. A fort built by these soldiers near present day Queen Creek served as a military base until it was abandoned in 1886 due to its close proximity to Apache Indian Territory where Apache Wars took place between Apaches and Mexicans. The fortifications around present day Queen Creek were also abandoned during this period; however evidence suggests that some Native Americans may have used them for shelter or trade goods with travelers passing through the area on their way from central Mexico to Apache lands east of Phoenix
