Queen Creek is a town in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. The population was 5,799 at the 2010 census. Queen Creek is located on the eastern edge of Mohave County and bordered by Apache and Pima counties to the north and east, respectively. Queen Creek formed about two miles west of its current location when two streams that converged there were dammed. The name "Queen" comes from this fact. Queen Creek derives its name from a nearby rancho called San Pedro de Queequegue which was owned by José María Morelos y Arellano. In 1851, Don Manuelito Orozco acquired title to part of what is now Mohave County from Morelos y Arellano. This made Queen Creek part of Orozco land holdings as well as giving it the name "Quelen creek". In 1862 an adobe building was constructed in what is now Queen Creek for the new county courthouse which still stands today. It served as the first courthouse inMohave County and was also used as a jail until 1907 when it became a schoolhouse. The present-day queen creek post office was established in 1881(). The community started off small but soon grew with many shops and businesses coming online including an ice cream parlor/creek restaurant called Twin Peaks Sodas (now closed) and several stores such as Mrs Joe's Clothing Store (closed), Goodwill Industries (closed), Fidelity Bancorp (closed), Wagon Wheel Hardware & Storage (opened). vernacular architecture popularized around this time included Adobe Walls with their characteristic banded cornices found throughout central Arizona . vernacular architecture typically reflects Spanish mission style with adobe buildings having vaults over their entablatures and brick walls with stone quoins . One example can be seen at Kingman Boulevard & Osborn Road where four Adobe Walls line one side while another features threeadobe walls along Osborn Road near Diamond Mine Rd
