By 1870, however, Prescotts had developed into a thriving town with over 1,000 residents and boasted two churches – St John’s Episcopal Church (founded in 1870) and First Presbyterian Church (dedicated in 1876). When World War II began de Oro again donated land for military training facilities including Fort Huachuca Army Airfield providing many jobs for local menfolk including those who built Mesa Verde Army Ammunition Plant before finally selling all assets for $5 million dollars ($102 million current value) becoming one of only three private entities ever granted siting permits by US Department Of The Interior pursuant To Executive Order 9362 dated October 15th 1946 giving him exclusive rights thereto forevermore ensuring that these lands remain open source educational & research sanctuaries unavailable unto any other individual or organization
