Prescott, Arizona is home to the largest concentration of gun sights in the Western United States. The city was founded in 1867 by Native Americans and has been a center for firearms commerce and manufacturing ever since. While on parade outside Fort Donelson, Custer's horse got caught up in a herd of buffalo grazing nearby and was slaughtered. This event helped spawn the Cowboy culture that still dominates today in Prescott - cowboy hats are often seen throughout town. In 1875, General James Wickersham organized a military expedition known as "The Campaign" against Cochise County's Chief Ute Tribe leader Aztec Subaña. The primary goal of this assault was to capture or kill Ute chief Aztec Subaña so that Mexico could obtain mineral concessions from him under treaty negotiations then ongoing between America and Great Britain. To achieve this objective, General Wickersham assigned his son-in-law Captain John Chivington to lead a force of 878 men into Cochise County led by Major Robert Ewing

Prescott, Arizona is a small town in the southern part of the state of Arizona. It is located on the Mohave River, about 25 miles (40 km) south-southwest of Phoenix. Prescott was founded in 1867 by Captain John Wesley Prescott and his family. The current population was 4,811 as of the 2010 census. The city was named for Captain John Wesley Prescott, who had been a soldier in Mexico and California during the Mexican–American War and had come to Arizona to explore it. He found a rich coal seam near what is now Prescott and started mining it in 1867. The first post office at Prescott was established in 1868; it mail served only Humboldt County until 1870 when it became part of Maricopa County. The first school in Prescott was erected in 1870; it operated under teacher training facilities provided by Bishop Talbot McNutt of Tucson. In 1872, the United States Post Office moved from downtown Phoenix to what is now Old Town Square, then called First National Bank Building #1 (now Gila College), where it remains today. In 1907, Englishman Cecil Rhodes announced he would invest $10 million into copper exploration on the Mohave River Valley that lay between Phoenix and Yuma; this led to a rush by miners to find new deposits throughout central and eastern Arizona Territory as well as beyond into New Mexico Territory. On July 14, 1907,[4] Prescott organized an effort to purchase lands east of its current limits from Cochise Indian Nation for $10 per acre ($160 per square mile). After several attempts failed due to low bids received from other towns within Apache Junction territory – including Flagstaff –[5][6] On November 10th,[7] with approval from both Congress[2][8] and President Theodore Roosevelt,[9][10][11] General James Wilsons forces finally crossed over the Mohave River at San Angelo on December 17th,[12], establishing what are known today as Navajo Nation boundaries west of Apache Junction.[13][14]:4 On January 1st 1912,[15]:1 General Manuel Dominguez ordered all troops assembled east of Mille Lacs Creek Bridge “to prevent any further settlement or development” along that line pending receipt of an official map prepared by Army engineers which showed that no gold could be found within those boundaries.[3]:319 This order came after scouts discovered numerous potential sites totaling more than 500 acres (240 hectares) eastward across Mille Lacs Creek bed but none yielded any sign ore gold.[16]:191Dominguez also ordered military commanders throughout Apache Junction territory “to take possession immediately” if claimants were not paid minimum rents required for occupancy purposes plus interest payments.[17]:368 In March 1912 McClure & Co., speculators owning large tracts along either side of Mille Lacs Creek bed between Apache Junction and Wasilla claimed title to all land lying within 100 feet (30 m) thereof northward thereof subject only theretofor agreed upon rents payable thereon netting out interests at 6% annually compounded never less than once a year

Preston, Arizona is a small town in the Apache Nation Indian Reservation in southern Phoenix County, Arizona. The population was 571 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale (PMC) Metropolitan Statistical Area. Prescott's history dates back to 1868 when it was established as a trading post by Hugh C. Townsend and his brother-in-law, George A. Smithwick on what is now known as Cottonwood Mesa between Prescott and Goodyear. In 1901, the Townsite Act created Prescott as an incorporated city with its own City Council and Mayor. On December 11, 1912, the first school building in Prescott opened its doors to students from nearby Goodyear Senior High School after being built using money raised by a local campaign to finance school construction within Prescott neighborhoods which were then sparsely populated due to railroad tracks running through their midst. In 1924, ranchers prospecting for oil found natural gas complex near present day Prescott while drilling for water supplies on Round Mountain Ranch; this led to development of an oil refineries and production facilities around present day Prescott that continue today under different names such as ChevronTexaco and Shell Oil Company National Refinery & Processing Facility (NPRPF). The city began experiencing rapid growth during World War II with military base housing developments providing jobs for residents including many veterans who returned home from service in Europe and Asia; also wartime industries produced munitions such as tanks, planes and artillery pieces that were used throughout World War II including Operation Barbarossa against Nazi Germany at Yuma Proving Ground east of Phoenix Prescott experienced significant growth following World War II with new subdivisions developed along Cottonwood Mesa Boulevard characterized by high rises designed by architect Harriett Schluter featuring exposed copper rooflines and mellow Mission Revival style architecture typical of those years along with large boxy homes becoming more prevalent followed by single family homes during the 1950s through 1970s characterized by newly designed entrances incorporating arches similar to those seen in places like Santa Fe Springs or Pasadena
