When Mexico acquired California in 1848 and Alta California became part of the United States as a territory, Prescott became part of Tucson Territory because it lay along US-Mexico boundary then under Mexican rule; however, no mail route ran through Prescott to Tucson until after Arizona statehood in 1912 In 1911–12, due to prohibition policies put into effect by President Taft following nationwide repeal of prohibition by Congress (the "Prohibition Act"), several small businesses closed down throughout Arizona because they could not afford to comply with new ban regulations which went into effect January 1st that year Pine Creek Brewery had been open since 1909 andserved as one of the last breweries open during Prohibition

About 20 thousand years ago, some humans became proficient at riding horses which allowed them to travel long distances with ease. Finally, by 12 thousand years ago, some humans began using vehicles such as carts and wagons which allowed them to move faster and carry larger loads over longer distances than they could before.

Prescott, Arizona is a census-designated place in the Phoenix metropolitan area and the county seat of Maricopa County. The population was 31,811 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most populous places in Arizona, and it has been called "the most exciting small town in America." Prescott is located on the eastern edge of Phoenix, just east of Interstate 10. The first Europeans to visit Prescott were Spanish explorers who arrived there in 1769. A mission founded by Father Francisco Garcilaso de la Vega was located here in 1813. The post office was established at Prescott on July 12, 1847. In 1912, General James Waggoner assigned Major John Harvey as military governor of Apache County to administer Prescott because Waggoner felt that Apache County would be more secure if its capital was within easy reach. In 1924, general John Pershing named Prescott as an emergency landing for American forces during World War II after Japanese planes bombed Pearl Harbor. Prescott's growth began with its incorporation as a city on November 1, 1914 from portions of Tombstone and Phantom Ranch townships along what is now I-10 Eastbound and US-61 Westbound exits near today's Veterans Memorial Coliseum football stadium (now known as Chase Field). On January 1, 1945, when Prescotts largest town – with a population of 487 – became a part of Phoenix through annexation by Phoenix proper; it remains that size today despite annexations by other municipalities over time In 1951–1954 respectively Mayor Don Hiltons efforts to rename downtown Phoenix after General George Armstrong Custer resulted in much public opposition; both cities reverted back to their original names shortly thereafter On July 14th 2006 Mayor Greg Stanton announced that he had reached an agreement with then Governor Janet Napolitano to move City Hall from downtownPhoenix to Chantilly Hills which will allow for increased development around University Village Shopping Center along Roads 16 & 20
