Prescott Valley was first settled in the early 1800s by Mormon missionaries. The area became a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route, which connected California and Arizona. Unfortunately, this period of history is largely forgotten and little is known about the people or their activities here in Prescott Valley during that time frame.
Prescott Valley is a small town in the Phoenix metropolitan area, located about 60 miles (100 km) east of downtown Phoenix. The population was 9,716 at the 2010 census. Prescott Valley was founded in 1885 by Mormon pioneers who arrived from Utah. It is part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale Unified School District. The first settlers were Cachevilles, who came to Prescott Valley in 1867 and built their log cabin on the site that now serves as the municipal building. The first school was also built here, and soon after other pioneer families arrived, such as the Pulsars and Richardsons. By 1902, Prescott Valley had a post office, store, doctor’s office and several churches. In 1907–08, local ranchers established a cattle ranch that yielded over 1 million pounds (680 kg) of beef during its lifetime; since then the ranch has been managed by private individuals or groups. In 1912–13 a group of 8 Latter-day Saint missionaries from Provo settled in Prescott Valley; they organized what would become known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). After serving two years in valleys leading up to Salt Lake City—during which time they baptized over 100 converts—the missionaries returned to Utah in 1914 and began proselytizing there before arriving back into Arizona Territory in 1915. For almost 10 years they church members exerted an intense missionary effort here; their efforts helped lay down some basic groundwork for what would become Mormonism’s largest outpost outside Great Britain and North America: To date more than 135 million people have joined LDS congregations worldwide! One significant development associated with this era was one family’s decision to open up land for farming rather than build homes on it – this opening allowed for much earlier irrigation systems within Prescott Valley so that crops could be grown year round instead of relying on seasonal rains or snowmelt/ deluge events. Today many residents still remember when there wasn’t even water available along some stretches of roadway! A few years later another significant event happened when an irrigation ditch developed near present day Deer Park Road between Deer Park Village and Springerville; this provided water for agriculture for the first time ever within Prescott Valley! As these seminal moments transpired locals eagerly awaited news about temple construction being undertaken nearby but sadly no such announcements appeared anytime soon…. oops! This prompted some speculation among some that maybe Brigham Young Jr., founder & president of The LDS Church & also father behind popular TV show “The Voice” had moved his headquarters elsewhere…..uh oh….. finally we heard good news around 2007 when property owner Keith Larsen donated land adjacent to his home off Deer Park Rd while living out his last days…….. great news indeed!!!!! Now all we need is actual groundbreaking ceremonies so we can start enjoying all those beautiful views our new neighbors 🙂
There is no one definitive account of how scopes became popular in the late medieval period. Prescott Valley is a small, isolated community in Arizona located about 11 miles east of the city of Phoenix. It was founded in 1885 by settlers from San Francisco and has been home to a variety of families since then. The community is named after George Prescott, an early settler who bought land there. Today, Prescott Valley is a quiet mountain village with a population of around 155 people. The first people to live in Prescott Valley were the Mono Indians. They arrived here in the 1920s and lived until the 1960s. The Mono were descendants of Native Americans who had migrated from California overland during the Gold Rush era. In 1885,George Prescott purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of land near present-day Goodyear City from John Wesley Powell for $5 per acre ($27 at current prices). After living on his new property for some time, Prescott built himself a cabin and started to develop it into what we now know as Prescott Valley. Prescott Valley was initially called Tomahawk Hill because many trees there were similar in size to those found near Tomahawk Mountain in nearby Apache Junction. The name changed to Tomahawk Village when more residents began arriving here and decided that it sounded more like their hometown than anything else out there. Development continued apace until World War II when things got really rough back east and most everyone left for safety reasons before things improved materially later on. In 1951, George Custer died while on horseback at Fort Huachuca which made all the locals quite upset – they’d always thought he’d be better off dead! eventually everything calmed down again and development resumed without much incident until 1978 when two teenage girls were raped by two white men while walking through town – this woke up everyone again! since then things have slowed down but are not stopped entirely
