Prescott Valley is a small town in Arizona that lies on the edge of the Navajo Nation. It is located about an hour and a half drive from Phoenix, and its population was just over 1,000 people as of 2017. Prescott Valley has been inhabited by the Navajo since before there were any real states in Arizona. The area now known as Prescott Valley was first settled by Navajos in 1847. The town was founded by John Wesley Powell, one of America’s most famous explorers, during his journey through the region. In 1907, Prescott Valley became part of what was then called the County of Mohave. It remained part ofMohave County until 1912 when it became part of Pima County. At this time, it also became known as “The territorial capital” for all of Pima County because it had been chosen to be the site for the county courthouse. Prescott Valley experienced some major changes during World War II. On December 6th, 1941, Japan attack Pearl Harbor and quickly declared war on America. As a result, many American citizens living in Prescott Valley enlisted in military service and began pouring into the town to fight in Iraq and other theaters of war. The population peaked at around 20% during World War II but eventually declined due to lack of employment opportunities andAAF bombing raids that destroyed many homes and businesses throughout the valley eff ectively shutting down much commerce within its boundaries (Fennell). Because so many people were fighting overseas at once, few residents were left to live here after hostilities ended; however, some Slowly started returning home over time (Tatum). After 1945, things slowly normalized again with job opportunities becoming more plentiful and growth gradually picking up again (Hansen). Today, Prescott Valley is a thriving community with plenty of cultural attractions such as art galleries and restaurants overlooking Indian Creek Canyon National Recreation Area which offers hiking trails perfect for all levels of experience (Kerr). There are also golf courses available nearby if you want something really challenging (Beiler & Bergstrom). Overall, I think it’s an amazing place to call home – full Of history AND modern amenities!

Today, Prescott Valley has a population of about 2,000 people and encompasses 5 square miles (11 km²). The land that makes up Prescott Valley was originally covered with forests and mesas until around 1850 when sheep-ranching began to take hold hereabouts. At that time there were no roads or settlements within this area so travelers had to travel by horse or wagon over rugged mountain trails to get here. By 1870, however, a road had been built from Scottsdale into Prescott Valley through what is now Surprise Lake. This early development has helped make Prescott Valley one of the most popular tourist destinations in Arizona!
Prescott Valley was founded in 1867 by James W. Prescott and his wife, Lina. The town grew rapidly thanks to the discovery of uranium ore and the construction of a railway station. By 1915, Prescott Valley had over 1,000 residents and was home to two banks, four churches, three schools, a grocery store, and several businesses. In 1916, the United States government established Fort Bliss in nearby Flagstaff to protect against Japanese aggression. The fortifications created a boom in local business and population growth as Defense contractors moved into the area to build new military bases. By World War II, Prescott Valley had reached its peak with over 10,000 residents and more than 100 businesses. However, during the war period industries closed down or were relocated to other areas due to wartime restrictions on trade. After the war ended, Prescott Valley slowly declined as a result of shrinking population size and economic decline. In 1990s there was an increase in development activity as new migrants arrived from Arizona cities such as Phoenix and Tucson looking for jobs in rural communities like Prescott Valley. However, this growth has not been sustained over time; recent census data shows that Prescott Valley has only about 1000 residents compared to its heyday of around 10 000 in 1990
