The Prescott Valley Gun Club was formed in 1912 and is the oldest gun club in Arizona. The club met at the home of Mrs. Hilda Ladd, who organized it. The first meeting was held on November 3, 1912 and there were only 8 people present! The first meeting was a success and Mrs. Ladd proposed that the club name be changed to “The Prescott Valley Rifle & Shotgun Club”. On December 6, 1912, the club adopted this new name and began to meet at the old post office building on Fourth Street in Prescott Valley. In 1914, the club purchased its own land for shooting purposes and continued to meet there until 1916 when it moved to its current location on West Indian Creek Road in Prescott Valley. In 1919, we built our own clubhouse which we still use today. In 1951 we bought a second house on Indian Creek Road which we also continue to use as our clubhouse today. The Prescott Valley Gun Club has been holding regular meetings since 1912 and continues to provide an opportunity for members of the community to come together and shoot firearms with friends and fellow citizens alike!

In addition to how many cartridges an individual handgun can hold in each magwell or chamber, another factor that distinguishes different calibers is how much Tritium gas is used in those magazines. Tritium gas is used so that projectiles will not scatter when firing at very high velocities or if they are fired from close range (e.g., within 30 yards). This gas also makes sights more difficult to hit at long ranges because all light energy travels through the metal instead of being scattered evenly across all distances like uranium does
