The years following World War I were difficult for both businesses and residents alike as prices for goods quadrupled while wages barely budged. However things began to change during Prohibition which led to increased demand for jobs in local breweries; this also stimulated development throughout downtown including some new businesses that had never been open before such as KFC (now Papa John’s Pizza) and Olive Garden! The 1920s were more prosperous for both locals and visitors alike with bars/restaurants opening up all around town which drew people from all over Southern Arizona! However during this era there were also many murders committed within our small community so police officers had to continue using strong measures like “sting operations” against those who inhabited our streets without any consequences! Eddie Murphy made his acting debut in an episode of "The Rifleman" filmed here on May 8th 1925; later that year he would become famous nationwide with his breakthrough role in "Wagons full o’ livers" playing Jethro Tullbottom on TV's "The Adventures Of Superman". The show ended production after four seasons butMurphy continued working intermittently until his death from natural causes aged 53 years old on February 15th 2003 at home surrounded by family members at his retirement home located just outside Scottsdale AZ

The city was founded by John Wesley Powell and his party on February 14th, 1867, during their journey through what is now Arizona Territory. Peoria became a U.S. City on March 4th, 1907. The population of Peoria peaked at over 50,000 in 1920 and has since declined as the surrounding area has become more developed. Today, Peoria is a small town with a population of under 10,000 people. The history of Peoria begins with the arrival of Spanish settlers in 1760. They built Fortaleza de la Conchita for defense against Native Americans who raids passed through the area every year. In 1827, General Antonio López de Santa Anna sent an expedition to explore this new land and discovered gold deposits in what is now Phoenix County. In 1868 owner of the fort granted citizenship to all those who had worked there for six months or more previous to that date and named it after him – Santiago del Rio de los Angeles (Sta Mesa). This name change was due to objections from Mexican citizens who thought it sounded like their country’s president Santiago Rodriguez would be better known because he resided in Mexico City at that time! In 1870 two brothers named George Winton laid out a townsite on land they had acquired near present day Apache Junction along Salt River Road within sight of Prescott Valley which later became Phoenix. After much debate between developers Harry Chandler and Alfred Cowles about whether or not to build a city or maintain rural living patterns they opted for the former option and called their settlement “Peoria” after former President James Kenedy (1811-1885), one of America’s most famous Senators from Massachusetts! The first post office opened in 1893 and moved from Indian Wells two years later when Prescott Valley got its own post office! By 1907 little remained of downtown except for some old buildings used as warehouses before development resumed around 1915-1917 with construction primarily being done by local businessmen such as John Sutter (founder of Sutter Ranch) who also owned many irrigation systems needed for growing crops inland including irrigated farmland becoming available for sale starting in 1916! For many years Peoria functioned mainly as an agricultural center supplying farmers throughout Phoenix with goods fresh from field until WWII when industry started to take over aspectsof life here making Peoria both economically buoyant but socially interdependent onPhoenix overall growth! Today despite its small size Peoriaprovides important services such as educational opportunities having four high schools including one professional school which offers certificates/ diplomas/ associate degrees; medical care offered by several hospitals; businesses providing various types of services such as home computersrepairingand installingair conditionersetc.; numerous cultural events celebrated each year like Oktoberfest gatherings honoring German culture while Cowboy Days celebrate American cowboy traditions; arts & crafts shows held annually highlighting local artists; tourism bringing visitors here during certain times each year especially during Christmas season where residents dress up in traditional clothing etc.; job seekers access resources online & even inside library branches thru Job Corps programs etc.; historical marker erected at veterans cemetery commemorating significant contributions made by military members & their families past & present

The Phoenix and Tucson Railroad reached Peoria in 1875, making it a hub for agricultural production and trade. In 1912, the Arizona State Legislature moved the capital from Phoenix to Peoria because of concerns about air quality in Phoenix. City officials decided that a new downtown would be more hospitable to tourists thanPhoenix' existing Central Avenue area which was then home to several small businesses and many factories. After years of planning and construction, Peoriadrajesque (now known as Pioneer Square) was completed in 1928 at a cost of $27 million dollars including $14 million from city coffers and private donations.
