This business soon became known for their high-quality handguns and accessories as well as their excellent customer service! In 1975, Brownells began operations in Peoria when John Brownell purchased a share of Rangemen Firearms & Leathers Inc.. Brownells quickly grew into one of the leading holster companies in the country! They continue to operate today as one of America’s largest suppliers of holsters! Many other prominent businesses have also been located within or around Peoria since its establishment as an important center for holster manufacturing. These businesses include: Colt Manufacturing Co., FN Herstal firearms (now part of Glock), Jens Jacobsen Custom Guns (now part of S&W), Edwin Hargrave Custom Gunsmithing (now part of Smith & Wesson), Tomahawk Dickies Sporting Goods (now part of Wal-Mart), Curtis Black Outdoors (now part of Overstock.com), Harry Rosenquist Custom Gunsmithing (now part of Cabelas) – just to name a few! It lies east of Phoenix on Interstate 10 and north of Tucson on State Route 56. The Peoria area was first inhabited by the Pima people in 1847, who named it after their home town of Peepliwinik in Canada. The Pima were forced from their land in 1912 by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs as part of the Hopi Indian Reservation Massacre; they moved to what is now Flagstaff and Tucson before arriving in Phoenix about 1880. In 1865, General Zachary Taylor's army stopped at Peoria for supplies on its way south to fight against Confederate forces at Vicksburg; General Jeffersons' division headquarters were located there that winter. A year later, during the American Civil War, General John Jumper's brigade camped here while near Apache Junction when he received word that some Navajo Indians had attacked his column and killed several officers and soldiers; this led to Jumper's nickname "The Captain". After Arizona became a state in 1912, Peoria became its capital. It was renamed to honor Rear Admiral George Halsey Ball (1862-1913), commander-in-chief United States Pacific Fleet during World War I and 1922–24; he served as Commander-in-Chief Hawaiian Islands Area from 1916 to 1919 and also served as Commandant Corps Air Service from 1921 until his death in 1913). In 1928, peoria hosted world's first air service convention International Air Races between America (the USA) and Great Britain with both nations' aircraft types meeting each other head-to-head for the first time ever outside North America or Europe It has been estimated that over 60% of all processed agricultural products shipped through Phoenix are produced within city limits

Peoria, Arizona is a city in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 65,611 as of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Pima County after Tucson and the larger metropolitan area has a population of over 100,000 residents. Peoria is home to one of the three largest courthouses in Arizona and has several cultural attractions including Peoria Civic Center Museum, downtown Peoria State Historic District, and Pioneer Cemetery. The site where Peoria now stands was first occupied by the Cochise people in 1867. In 1868 Hualapai Apache Chief Manuela built a small post near present day Peoria on Hiwassee Creek to control trade with traders from Phoenix and Yuma City. Mexican authorities moved Apache Chief Manuela's post to what is now First Avenue east of Second Street in 1875 due to an influx of settlers into that region following Manifest Destiny policies promoted by Ulysses S. Grant during his presidency. A year later Colonel James Katell moved his cavalry camp from its original location about four miles south of present day First Avenue eastward along Hiwassee Creek for protection against Apaches who had raided settlements around this area since the end of World War II; their numbers had decreased significantly following passage of the Indian Reservations Act (1946). In 1912 cattle rancher Wernher Ladd bought part ownership in what would become Peoria from John Fitch; it was not until 1915 when Ladd donated land for a public school that town began to take form as it today exists with streets named after early pioneers such as Elisha Graylock (1838-1924), Jno. Moseley (1792-1860), Elias Howe (1799-1863), David Lloyd George (1865-1945) and William McKinley (1901-1902). On July 16th 1905 local citizens approved incorporation which became effective on October 1st that same year under name "Peoria". At its peak during World War I there were over 30 businesses within the limits then proposed but only six remain today including two banks: Citizens National Bank & Trust Company and Peoples National Bank - both located at First Avenue and Harrison Streets - two insurance companies: The Farmers Life Insurance Company Ltd., founded 1865 by Cyrus Finch Warner & Brothers brothers John D'Alba Archer & Edward Harker Finch& Brothers Frank Lloyd Wright Sons Partnership & Co., founded 1913 & Farmers Mutual Casualty Insurance Company Incorporated 1916; grocery store Merchants Drug Store INCORPORATED 1907 before being absorbed into Safeway Incorporated 1969; brick dry cleaner/grocery store Girdwood Cleaners CORPORATED 1922 before merging with Kroger Corporation 1968 also located at First Avenue between Harrison Streets and Third Street - last business still continuing operation as Girdwood Grocery Store LLC PRESENT DAY It should be noted that while some buildings still stand today such as Citizens National Bank building or Ladd's donation field house all other structures were destroyed or replacedduring either peacetime bombing raids conducted by American Airlines Flight 815 on December 14th 1945 or combat operations during World War II which included damage to many buildings within town limits although few if any remain extant today
