Peoria, Arizona is home to the oldest commercial ammunition company in the United States. The company was founded in 1892 by George Hecht and his brother-in-law Jesse Hutton. Hecht and Hutton began manufacturing rifle rounds for the Phoenix Rifle Club. The first shotgun rounds were also produced at this time. In 1895, Hecht purchased a rolling mill and began producing pistol rounds as well. Ammunition production continued until 1931 when Hecht sold his business to Wm. Peck of Chicago. In 1932, Peoria’s industrial districts went through an economic recession that affected most American cities with similar demographics (immigrant populations). This made ammunition production difficult as demand dropped for both rifles and pistols due to decreased military spending and competition from imported guns. However, ammunition companies such as Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRA) continued to produce firearms despite their lack of success in munitions sales during this period. In 1935, WRA merged with National Biscuit Co., making Peoria one of the few American cities which had two major ammo manufacturers within its borders. By 1938, all but one of Peoria’s 20 businesses were Ammo Producers Incorporated (API). API manufactured cartridges for handguns, shotguns, rifles and machineguns; it also produced propellant gases used in artillery shells and torpedoes during World War II. During the Korean War years, API became a subcontractor for Raytheon Missile Systems Division responsible for supplying projectiles for their then new Manned Maneuvering unit technology development program; missiles being developed at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama under Army direction led by General Atomics Corporation president Drayson Armstrong However by 1951 all API businesses had been sold off except profits from munitions sales that continued until 1958 when they closed their doors permanently after experiencing low demand from consumers because of technological advancements that made small arms obsolete while large arsenals could now fire armor piercing weapons effectively without muzzle flash or other noise sources thereby reducing accuracy Plaintiff moved into government ownership following victory over Army opposition

Peoria is a city in Arizona, United States. The population was 147,898 at the 2010 census. Peoria is the county seat of Peoria County and is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is home to the University of Phoenix, which has its main campus in downtown Peoria. The first European settlers in what became Peoria were Mexican land grantees who arrived from Chihuahua in 1874. The town site was selected by commissioners on May 10, 1875, after surveys found two possible sites for a new town on Angel Island (now part of Downtown Phoenix). The original village consisted of about twenty homes built on low hills west of the present-day Central Library/Phoenix Convention Center complex. The city's name comes from John Quincy Adams' phrase "Peoria River Avenue" as given to him by then Mayor George Westlake in 1895 as inducement for development along that street starting southward from Broadway near Union Station. Adams had asked for the name because he loved Illinois but felt Illinois was too far away to be truly his home state. In 1911, Peoria approved an ordinance establishing public schools and providing funding through assessments levied against property owners within city limits (the first municipally sponsored school district in America). In 1916, Citizens’ Committee No. 1 recommended annexation into larger cities; however this proposal did not gain traction due to lack of support from aldermen or citizens at large until passage by City Council on December 5 that same year resulted in incorporation as a city with full voting rights under State law – becoming one of only two American cities chartered pursuant to Statehood Law without prior municipal approval (the other being New York City). On October 2nd 1920 voters passed an ordinance granting voting rights exclusively to Negroes and Aboriginal people residing within the city limits waiting for Indian blood quantum tests conducted pursuant to Executive Order No: 90–521 dated November 27th1920 pitting white residents against Negroes residentially adjacent thereto seeking accessorial benefits thereby fulfilling demand expressed during referendum held June 6 1920 relative to racial equality before governmental entities

Peoria is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The population was 138,651 at the 2010 census. Peoria is the second largest city in Arizona after Phoenix and the most populous city east of the Colorado River. It is also one of the fastest-growing cities in America. The area now comprising Peoria was first settled by Arikaree Indians who called it "Tonto Creek" because of a waterfall seen from their village on that stream. When Captain James Cook discovered what he thought were Indian villages near present-day Phoenix on his third voyage of exploration in 1769, he named them Tonto Canyon after one of his guides, an Arikaree name for "valley." When Spanish traders arrived in 1692 they founded missions at Madero and Santa Cruz del Tucson to proselytize among the Apache Indians, but they left little evidence of their presence other than ruins and artifacts. In 1875 Kofa Apache chief Manuel Micheltorena killed two white cattle herders near present day Peoria with a bows and arrows while on horseback about 25 miles southeast of Tucson; this event led to lawlessness throughout much of southern Arizona due to scalpings among local Apache leaders seeking revenge for Michelletorena's death. A contingent from General John Wetherbee's division during the Mexican–American War fought at Palo Alto Station between September 10th and 12th 1847 looted Mission San Diego de Alcala which had been taken over by Mexico without warning or battle as part of that war effort; many items taken included cannons, ammunition, saddles, horses and food stores.
