A team of engineers working for Winchester designed the first shotgun in 1892 which used a type of casing known as a “rimmed barrel” ( Rimmed Barrel Shotguns ). "Payson," meaning "the place where cattle are pastured," was an important center for cattleraising during the 1800s and early 1900s because of its location near railroad tracks that connected Prescott with Tucson and other regional centers.
