The first expansion was to the west in 1912 when a dune field on the east side of the valley was drained and plowed. In 1916, a cattle farm northeast of Paradise Valley was developed and two years later, a water well was drilled. The 1919 Hayden Dunes National Monument were created in response to complaints about people parking on sensitive sand dunes. In 1926, the Arizona State Legislature designated 2 miles of east-west I-10 as a national scenic Byway. In 1932, an addition to the National Register of Historic Places called "Paradise Valley" was added to that by designation from then Governor J M Carver Jr. In 1933, weir systems were constructed at both ends of Miracle Creek so irrigation could be increased for agriculture in the area; these systems are still used today. The 1937 construction of Phoenix Municipal Airport located just north of town led to more development in that vicinity including subdivisions and hospitals which continue up until this day despite efforts by various groups to preserve them.

Today, there are many businesses in Paradise Valley including a grocery store, post office, bank, cemetery, doctor's office and several restaurants including an Italian restaurant and a steakhouse. There also is a small shopping mall located within walking distance of most homes. There are also several children's playgrounds and tennis courts located throughout town. The pride of Paradise Valley are its schools which include Pine-Patcher Elementary School which serves students grades kindergarten through eighth grade; Parkview High School which serves ninth through XIIth grade; Eastern Arizona Community College (EACC) - serving students who attend both Phoenix campus locations; and Our Lady of Peace Catholic school for girlsgrades pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade which provides programs such as music appreciation classes for fourth graders as well as agricultural education opportunities for fifth through eighth graders

Paradise Valley is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,644 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The name Paradise Valley may come from the narrow opening east of town between two ridges of mountains and valley floors lying to the south and west. According to one source, early settlers named their land "Valley of the Flowers," because they saw vast fields of wildflowers in the vicinity. In 1868, Mormon pioneers arrived in what is now Paradise Valley from Salt Lake City; they named their new post "Pine Grove." A year later, Brigham Young sent his brother-in-law George Custer through this area on his famous Raid on Washoe River Station - an event which served as a pretext for Apache Chief Manuel López Adobe to attack Mormon villages across central Arizona that winter. Adobe's forces reached within striking distance of Paradise Valley before being driven back by militia led by Captain Phineas Finniss. In retaliation for Adobe's raiders' massacre of Sixteenth Street Canyon bandit chief James Gunnison (the only Native American killed during that campaign), Young ordered General Wesley Smith to march on Apache Stronghold at Tucson Mountain and burn it to the ground. After Utah became a state in 1912, many residents relocated eastward along I-10 into Maricopa County; however, most paradise valleys residents continued living near their churches until after World War II when more people moved into Phoenix proper due to its expanding economy and larger population density than any other community in Arizona or anywhere else in America outside Los Angeles or New York City. Today there are few residential properties remaining inside Palmer National Forest boundaries: most people have either moved away or bought properties adjoining commercial strips adjacent to Interstate 10 or within walking distance of major shopping malls and universities such as Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University
On Valentine's Day in 1912, two prospectors, John Wesley Powell and Andrew W. Mellon founded the town of Paradise Valley on what is now the outskirts of Phoenix. The town was named after a valley in Arizona where Jesus Christ had been preached by Rev. George Cohan. The early residents were mainly mill owners and miners who came to the area for their mining properties and water rights. By 1916, the population had grown to about 100 people and a post office was established. In 1924, the first school opened in Paradise Valley and it served grades Pre-K through 12th grade until 1952 when schools were consolidated into Phoenix Public Schools. In 1951, a new high school was built at 95th Avenue and McDowell Road which replaced the original building that had been destroyed by fire in 1945.
