The name "Paradise Valley" comes from two sources: the Native American word "Pa-dre-a-tse" meaning "place where rivers flow together," and a local legend which states that one day a beautiful woman will be born there who will make everything perfect. Today's Paradise Valley began to form after white settlers arrived in 1871. They named the area after Mount Lebanon, in present-day Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. In 1881, a post office was established in this vicinity and soon became known as Paradise Valley because of its beauty and tranquility. In 1925, when construction began on Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Tucson, Paradise Valley became one of the towns along that route. Today, it still remains an important center for trade and commerce within the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Paradise Valley is a valley in Phoenix, Arizona. It was named for the Paradise fountain and park located in the center of the valley, which is now a public garage. The first people to live in this area were Native American tribes who hunted and gathered game resources in what is now central Phoenix. In 1867, Anna P. Hennepin organized her husband's cattle drive from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Fort Defiance on the Gila River. She thought that she could find new land to hunt and ranch on when she arrived in Phoenix, but found onlyundeveloped land. In 1887, General James Waddell founded Camp Grant near present-day Peoria Avenue and Camelback Road as part of his campaign against Apache Indian raiding expeditions led by Geronimo.Shortly thereafter, 1st Infantry Regiment US Cavalry under Major John Custer columns pushed off from Camp Grant en route to Apache territory east of Tucson through what is now Paradise Valley onto the upper Gila River where they discovered goldfields; within days all but one regiment had located significant amounts of precious metals including $5 million worth of silver bullion at Adobe Hills (now Scottsdale). Camp Grant served as headquarters for cavalry operations during World War II before being abandoned due to shortage of troops and equipment after hostilities ceased there in 1945. Afterward it became a popular tourist destination with mineral tours available throughout the year as well as various RV camping/motel options available nearby with stunning views of downtown Phoenix skyline from many units inside several golf courses perched atop hills scattered throughout much forested terrain around nearly 2 million acre site.) Boyd P. O'Malley was the founder of Paradise Valley, Arizona in 1912. The town was named after Boyd P. O'Malley who donated land to the town. The first store in Paradise Valley opened its doors in 1912. By 1928, the town had a population of 100 and boasted three churches, a post office, and two schools. In 1931, the community voted to create its own government with a mayor and a council. In 1938, Paradise Valley became an incorporated municipality with a population of 350 people. In 1951, the community approved annexation by Phoenix making it the first city in Phoenix to be annexed by another city! Today, there are over 2,500 residents living in Paradise Valley!
