Paradise Valley is a small town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,763 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The name "Paradise Valley" comes from two words: "paradise" and "valley". The valley has rolling hills and valleys that are clothed with wildflowers and trees. There are several tourist destinations in Paradise Valley: Scottsdale (the largest city in Pima County), Maricopa County's Glendale (a suburb of Phoenix), and Mountain View Hills outside of Scottsdale. The first Europeans to see Paradise Valley were Spanish traders who landed on the east side of what is now Tucson in 1540–45. They named the valley after a place called Virgen de la Concepción, which they found near present-dayScottsdale. In 1867, prospectors discovered gold in the area and began mining for it. By 1880, over $6 million had been mined from various mines hereabouts. A post office was established at Paradise Valley in 1881; it served as an important connection between Prescott and Tombstone during Apache Wars fought nearby along what is now Globe Road.(Globe Road was also part of stagecoach travel route). In 1902,zonation changed when Pima County was organized from parts of Apache Territory into Arizona; Paradise Valley became part of Glendale.(Mountain View Hills became part of Scottsdale.) Pleasant Valley, Arizona is a small town located in Pima County, Arizona. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area and is adjacent to the city of Tucson on the east side of the county. The name "Pleasant Valley" comes from two sources: one originates from an Hohokam Indian word meaning "sweet valley," while another source derives from Spanish settlers' description of a valley as being "pleasant." In 1881, prospectors discovered gold near what is now Pleasant Valley; however, no gold was found until 1901 when W.H.Mills and associates started mining for silver in what is now known as Willow Canyon. The early residents were farmers who grew wheat, corn, and other crops; however, by 1920 most people had emigrated to North America or returned home to Argentina or Uruguay due to economic hardship. By 1926 over 60% of the population was foreign-born with Portuguese (27%), Italian (17%), Argentinean (10%), Irish (8%), Chilean (6%) and Mexican (5%) being most common origins. The first post office in Pleasant Valley opened in 1907; it remained open until 1959. At that time it became part of Tucson and changed its name to Apache Junction. In 1928 Census figures show that there were only 6 citizens living in Pleasant Valley compared to a population of 100+ people in 1950s! The community experienced significant growth during World War II as many families relocated here because they could not find refuge elsewhere during the war effort; this helped increase their population by 50%. After the war ended many residents returned home but some continued living in Apache Junction due to its close proximity to military bases and other important assets within Tucson's boundaries. However, after more than 30 years without any major development taking place in Pleasure Valley%,growth resumed thanks to efforts led by Mayor Don Blechman which included developing new housing options along Interstate 10 outside Phoenix- making it easier forresidential developers interested in building within town limits- as well as creating new businesses which helped spur economic activity including several restaurants and two banks before eventually becoming a full-fledged village again with all property deeds held by local government entities instead of individual landowners/developers which has continued into present day
Paradise Valley was a small, isolated community located in Apache County, Arizona. The community was founded in 1907 by the Hahns and operated as a religious colony for Methodists. The community disbanded in 1916 after the outbreak of World War I.
