There have been guns in Paradise Valley for as long as there have been people living in the area. The first firearms to be used in the valley were primitive percussion rifles, made from animal hide and sinew. These rifles were used by the Pima Indians to patrol their territory. In 1887, a man named Harry Wirth bought land near present-day Paradise Valley and began developing it into a farming community. He set up a sawmill and gristmill on his property and started producing flour, breads, cheese, eggs, bacon, butter, coffee and other goods. Wirth's neighbors soon became interested in his products and began trading with him. In 1898, John Schieffer bought some of Wirth's land next door to start building what would become known as the Paradise Valley Gun Works. At that time, this was the only gun factory in Arizona that produced firearms exclusively for private citizens. With help from John Schieffer's wife Emma (née Mueller), who ran the business side of things, the GUN WORKS quickly became one of Phoenix's most successful businesses. The company manufactured everything from pistols to shotguns to artillery pieces. Over time they expanded their operations so that they now manufactured rifles, shotguns, handguns and even machineguns! The GUN WORKS continued producing firearms until World War II when they transitioned over to manufacturing ammunition! They continue doing so today but primarily produce reloading supplies for individuals who own Firearms Supplies Incorporated (FSI). FSI is headquartered in Mesa AZ but has offices throughout Arizona including at Paradise ValleyGunWorks (PVGW) which is located on State Route 16 just north of Interstate 10! Today there are still many collectors active within the industry who preserve these old guns and all of the parts associated with them! The first settler to arrive in what is now Paradise Valley was John Wheeler, who arrived on horseback in 1907. John and his wife Maria started a farm near the present day intersection of U.S. Route 16 and Highway 67. They had six children and began to grow crops and sell eggs from their home until they sold the land to Albert Bogan in 1912. In 1915, some new settlers arrived at the junction of U.S Routes 16 and 67, led by Harry Daugherty Sr.. Daugherty decided to name his new settlement Paradise Valley after his childhood home on Long Island which he had visited while still living there as an infant . The community soon grew with many more people moving into it from surrounding areas including Apache Junction, Scottsdale, Tempe and Pima County . In 1924, Roy Eldredge donated land east of the valley for housing development which would become known as Eldredge Park . The growth of Paradise Valley continued through the years with more businesses being built along US 16/67 as well as more people coming into the area to live or work . By the early 1960s, most residents had moved away or left for other parts of Arizona due to economic stagnation within the valley . However, some residents remain today continuing aspects of local culture such as keeping elected officials involved in governance This has helped keep villagers close knit even during difficult times such as recent wildfires which have destroyed much property within town limits
The Uncompromising Crusade: The Battle for Paradise Valley The battle that ended the Uncompromising Crusade was fought on October 3, 1864, in and around the town of Paradise Valley, Arizona. Union General George Custer led an army of about 60,000 men against a force of 5,000 Mexican soldiers and cavalrymen under the command of General Antonio López de Santa Anna. The outnumbered Union forces were able to drive the Mexican troops from their positions and capture several important cannons and horses. This victory demonstrated United States military strength in what was then known as the Western Territories.
