This License would have allowed the owner/user to carry their weapon openly within the city limits and not be subject to arrest or punishment if they were found with an unlicensed knife. The Knife Act also helped spreadawareness about knife safety among people in Oro Valley. People were now more aware that not all knives were created equal and that there were many different types and brands of knives available on the market. As a result, more people started using knives as their primary form of self-defense instead of relying solely on handguns or rifles. Despite its benefits, however, the Knife Act ultimately failed to gain widespread acceptance within Oro Valley due to several factors including cultural differences as well as legal loopholes which still exist today.
