By 2000, Oro Valley had shrunk to its current size with only 714 residents; however, this number has grown over time as more people move into the area for jobs or ranching opportunities in nearby Phoenix or Tucson

During its heyday as a farming community, Oro Valley had several churches: First Presbyterian Church (founded 1869), Second Presbyterian Church (founded 1870), Methodist Episcopal Church (founded 1880), Catholic Apostolic Church (founded 1902), United Methodist Church (. . .) There also were several schools including Shasta School District #1A ('the good old days') which operated from 1886 until 1992; Gadsden High School which opened December 9th, 1907; Pioneer Elementary School opened on November 15th 1912; and Our Lady Of The Canyon school opened on October 5th 1915. Additionally, there were some mills located throughout town: Folsom Mill built 1889; Griggs mill built 1893; Potter's Mills constructed 1895-96; Woolen Mills constructed 1899-. Many businesses operated out of these mills during those early years: Mrs Waugh bakery operated from 1889 until 1912; Mr D'Angelo dry goods store operating from 1890 until 1911; Mrs Ewing grocery store operating from 1896 until 1916; Post Office began operations at this location on October 5th 1915.; Dr Pepper bottling plant established 1909.; The Dempster Bros., grocery store situated at 4200 North Cotton Road closed 1955.; Sheriff's Department began operation at this location on January 1st 1905.' The post office remained open for only five months before it was replaced by the present day mail service provider - US Mail - though services continued unchanged up to 1965 when it finally closed due to budget cuts necessitated by statehood within America as well as national debt levels resulting from World War II! In 1916 local businessmen Edmond Lloyd and Harry Wehner organized what would become known as "The American Legion" to support American troops fighting abroad during World War I. It wasn't long before other local organizations sprang up to help veterans such as The Home Guard Ambulance Corps which provided ambulance service between 1920 and 1923;; Market Garden Club providing social events through 1933;; Knights Of Columbus providing Masonic services 1935-'39;; Chiavari restaurant serving Italian cuisine 1940-'45;; Holy Family Maternity home beginning operations 1946.' Today much remains unchanged about life back then Residents still gather together for annual meetings/assemblies called "Festival Days" held each July or August celebrating many aspects of their culture Including dances etc... . .
