In recent years however, Downtown has become home to several high-end stores while other sections have seen mixed use (e.g., Central Avenue) or strip mall development (e.g., Court Square Shopping Center). In response to these changes, locals have worked hard to maintain their unique character whilefg growing closer to metropolitan Phoenix overalls along with occasional efforts at marketing themselves less locally specifically (e.g., using slogans such as "Phoenix: A City on Our Mind") . Despite these efforts though, many residents continue feel like they are stuck in time warp because most everything has changed since they arrived here over 50 years ago
