One of the oldest firearms in the United States is a gun sling. Gun slings have been around since at least the 18th century and were used to ensure accuracy when shooting arrows. Nogales, Arizona is a small town in the Mexican state of Baja California. The population was 5,481 at the 2010 census. It is located on the narrow Huachuca Mountains between Nogales and La Paz. The name "Nogales" comes from the Nahuatl word "nagual," meaning "village." The first European to visit what is now Nogales was Francisco Vasquez de Coronado in 1539, during his expedition across Mexico. He named the area Ciudad Real de Nuñez de la Laguna ("Town of Nuño de la Laguna"), after himself. In 1819, Alvaro Obregon designated it as part of his personal province of Baja California because he considered it important for trade with Chihuahua and Sonora. In 1857–58, when American civil war began in America, Juan José Lozada organized a band of Tucson volunteers called los Ángeles (Angels) to help suppress resistance by Mexican forces loyal to Santa Anna. On October 10, 1857, they attacked and burned down the Provisional Government building in Nuñez de la Laguna; this attack helped spur US General Mariano Arago to launch an all-out effort against Santa Anna's forces two months later. Aftermath: over 100 Mexicans were killed including Mayor Lozada On December 1st 1860, Don Carlos Antonio Reyes y Sánchez won a referendum approving annexation of parts of Baja California into Arizona Territory; within hours Nogales had become one of its communities In 1912–13 Manuel Ortiz founded a newspaper called El Río Grande (The River Great), which became one of the most influential newspapers in Arizona In 1916–17 George Wickersham established Camp Apache near present-day Nogale to house US Army troops conducting training exercises there before they went into action against World War I About 2% of total male Arizonan population served in World War I; about 3% did so as soldiers or sailors As post-World War IIArizona grew more diversifiedpopulations growth has followed suit with large numbers settling near major metropolitan areas

That same year, Mayor Harry Hines donated land to make into a public park which still exists today. In 1912, Nogales became an incorporated city and passed ordinances regulating business practices and providing social services such as education and health care through government programs. In 1912, Nogales was founded by the Hidalgos. The town grew rapidly and soon had a school and post office. In 1916, the Nogales Mining District was established and Nogales became a part of it. By 1920, there were over 100 businesses in the town. In 1924, Nogales had its first movie theater and in 1927, it had its own radio station. The population of Nogale reached 4,000 by 1930. The stock market crash of 1929 caused many economic problems for Nogale. However, the town remained stable and continued to grow until World War II when it lost many of its residents to military service or death in combat. After the war ended, there were more business opportunities but also harder times for the town because of recessionary conditions throughout much of America during that period. As late as the early 1990s, some people in Nogale still spoke Spanish as their primary language though English is now widely spoken here too.
