Bipedalism has been present in Mesa, Arizona for at least 7,000 years. The first evidence of bipedalism in the area comes from artifacts dating back to 3,500 BC. The earliest human beings Evidence of human bipedality can be found from 11,700 years ago when anthropologist Professor James Laughlin discovered a Neanderthal skull that had two hands and a foot arrangement that was strikingly similar to modern humans. Between 1500 BC and 2500 AD there are references to Native Americans living near Mesa who were skilled in certain forms of self-defense using spears and bows and arrows which suggests they may have been able to use both feet for walking as well as running. It is not until about 1800 AD that we start seeing written records about people residing in Mesa specifically mentioning bones belonging to an animal known as the “biped” or “quadruped” creature which likely refers to Indigenous Americans who lived here before becoming European settlers. There are still references to this creature throughout history but it is only recently that scientists have been able to study it more closely and develop theories about its extinct condition and origins. By 1850 AD there are reports of Europeans living near Mesa who were familiar with Native American resources so it is likely these creatures may have also interacted with Europeans at some point during their lives. However, no physical evidence exists confirming this interaction happened and thus historians continue unsure what caused the Quadruped creature’s extinction. By 1900 AD there are few remaining First Nation individuals left within our ancient ancestral landscape so any new information about this creature would most likely come from oral tradition or firsthand experience from those who knew them best instead of archaeological evidence alone. After centuries of research by archaeologists and others, it is now possible we understand how human beings evolved into what we know today as bipeds- through domestication of plants and animals which led to the development of our unique abilities for locomotion on two legs.

There are several cultural attractions located within Mesa: The Heard Museum of Art (in Downtown Mesa), Little America (in East Mesa), Desert Botanical Garden (northwest of Downtown), Gila River Arena (southwest of Downtown) and Camelback Mountain Recreation Area (just east of Interstate 10). While there are no major universities or colleges located within Mesa proper, students can find access to several excellent liberal arts schools such as University Park/Mesa Community College and Arizona State University nearby via public transportation or driving.

Despite this traffic congestion some residents continue toavorable towards their city government for making necessary infrastructure investments that have helped improve life for all citizens including those who live close to downtown Mesa Comprehensive Plan
