After Mexican independence was secured in 1848, Phoenix began expanding rapidly as a commercial center due to its proximity to beans from Southern California and mining operations near Tombstone. The city's growth accelerated during Reconstruction following America's victory in the Civil War; businesses such as hotels, grocery stores and railways brought workers from throughout Northern Illinois into Phoenix. By 1881, Phoenix had become one of the largest cities in America with over 100%white population. During World War II,Phoenix played an important role as both an air-base and wartime munitions production center for American forces fighting in Europe and Asia. After hostilities ended, many factories closed or were sold off while Phoenix experienced significant job loss due to retiring baby boomers who left town en masse after college degrees were no longer required for most jobs outside traditional landscaping companies or law enforcement careers like detective work or private security guard service

On February 14th, 1912 Payson became the county seat after being chosen from among three other towns in easternArizona: Winslow Junction on the east side of Prescott Valley near Flagstaff; Serna onolles Creek between Nogales and Sierra Vista; and White Sands on San Pedro River south of Tucson. Mariocopa County’s geography has been significant in its history – its terrain includes rolling hills that give it a sense of Being Where It Is Place name like “Camelback Mountains” or “Grand Canyon National Park” etc.; its soils are mostly good for growing crops such as corn or watermelons etc.; climate varies from desert to subtropical with average temperatures varying from 63 degrees Fahrenheit to 112 degrees Fahrenheit year-round; major rivers include Gila River which flows southwest into Mexico City down to Phoenix; capital city is Phoenix which is also home to a numberof major industry including banking, aerospace manufacturing/testing/repair/supplier companies etc.; economy has been based largely upon agriculture since shortly after federal ownership began with many farmers becoming self-sufficient until non agricultural businesses took over when highway construction began throughout much present day Maricopa Countiy
The Maricopa County seat of Phoenix is currently located in the city of Scottsdale. The region that now includes Phoenix was first organized as part of Spanish Arizona on November 14, 1821 when Mexico granted land to two American companies, Don Manuel Antonio Cabeza de Vaca and José Gabriel Bovell. In 1828, Mexico ceded the area east of the Salt River to United States under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
