Today, there are over 60 businesses located in or near Marana along with full-time employment for nearly all residents who work outside the home or shop locally; most businesses generate income not just from customers but also through specialties like arts & crafts sales and rentals; no child without parents working off-campus is ever unemployed here! The name "Marana" itself comes from Apache word meaning "place where we meet." That meeting place likely took place at what is now known as Indian School Road across from today's Presbyterian Church building on Town Square Drive NE - sites where dances were held after school during winter months (the first dance being held December 7th 1880). There were many meetings throughout those years until finally February 1912 when by order of then Mayor Harry Satterwhite/Pima County Commissioner John Anderton decided that it would be spelled "Maranalito" due to confusion caused by neighboring towns having similarsounding names – including Tuba City (now Window Rock) – while other Arizonans kept using "Mara," thinking they were still called Mohave Valley! So finally on October 15th 1912 voters approved changing the name to present day: Maranasi [sic] Village!
