The Marana, Arizona Gun Case Museum is a nonprofit organization that specializes in the preservation of firearms and related artifacts. The museum was founded in 1980 by Donny and Betty Gentry. The Gentry's were the first owners of the building that now houses the museum. Donny had been a police officer in Phoenix until he was discharged because of his alcoholism. He then became a salesman for an ammunition company and met Betty at a gun show. Donny convinced her to open a shop to sell ammo and shooting supplies. She did this for six months, before she realized how much she loved guns. She started collecting weapons, ammunition, and accessories from dealers throughout Phoenix. Donny decided to start his own business, but soon found out that he couldn't keep up with demand for his products. So he donated most of his collection to the Marana Gun Case Museum in 1980. The museum has since acquired additional firearms and equipment from various collectors across the United States and abroad. Today, the Marana Gun Case Museum stocks over 100 exhibits on firearms history, including handguns, shotguns, rifles, pistols, armor piercing rounds/bullets/ammunition, among others! In addition to providing historical context for these items and hosting unique exhibitions each year like "Gun Show USA" (a national event focused on exhibiting American made firearms), the museum also provides educational opportunities for children through its gun safety program: NRA-certified kids' programs teach safe handling techniques withguns as well as NRA-approved safety courses designed specifically for elementary school students!

The city was founded in 1912 by a group of Mormon settlers who came from Salt Lake City, Utah. The town quickly grew into a thriving commercial center with a population of over 100 people. With its natural resources and booming economy, Marana became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Phoenix. However, during the late 1960s and early 1970s, Marana experienced an alarming trend of social unrest which contributed to its decline as a cultural and economic center. This unrest began to grow due to changes in Mexican immigration law which limited Mexicans access to American jobs and housing. As a result, many Mexican immigrants moved to Marana seeking political stability and greater opportunities than they could find back home. These tensions led to violence and vandalism against businesses owned by Mexican immigrants throughout the city. In response, Phoenix Police Department officers began using excessive force against these protestors, leading some residents to complain about what they saw as police brutality. The situation reached a boiling point when two men named Carlos Menendez and Gilberto Gomez were shot dead by Phoenix Police Officers on July 9th 1971 after scaling an outdoor fence around the local high school football game. This event catalyzed further social unrest within Marana and eventually led to its downfall as a vibrant cultural center filled with music festivals, art exhibitions, fashion shows, food trucksleighing competitions etc.. However despite this negative experience, Marana has continued to thrive since becoming part of Grand Canyon National Park in 1995. Today it remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Arizona thanks not only to its beautiful scenery but also its rich history which can be found here from pioneer days through today’s celebrations such as Fourth Of July weekend!
