The Marana Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1912, making it one of the oldest rifle and pistol clubs in Arizona. The club has always been a means for people to get together and shoot firearms, whether it be for target practice or just enjoy themselves. In 1933, the NRA recognized the club as an official NRA affiliate. This allowed the club to offer shooting classes and participate in NRA events. In 1975, the club moved from its original location on 8th Street to its current location on Elm Street. The move was made due to changes in zoning laws that prohibited handguns from being stored on property adjacent to schools. Since then, the club has continued to grow and support itself through donations from members and advertisements from local businesses. In 1990, the Marana Rifle & Pistol Club welcomed their first female member, Jeanne Whitehorn. Jeanne is credited with helping revive interest in firearms among women across Arizona. She continues to help run extra-curricular activities for the club such as muzzleloader matches and trap shooting tournaments which have brought new participants into gunnery activity at Marana Rifle & Pistol Club. Today, there are over 200 dues-paying members who attend various meetups including firearm demonstrations, range sessions, chambering competitions etc., all year round!

The Marana Massacre took place on December 8, 1881, when a group of settlers in the Marana area of Arizona killed six Navajo men and one woman. The massacre was part of a larger conflict between the Navajo people and white settlers.
