The company that operated the plant went out of business in 1925. In 1936, the city built its second factory to produce ammunition for military vehicles and aircraft. This facility continued to produce munitions until it shut down in 1957. A thirdFactory was built to produce high- explosives munitions during World War II. However, this plant also ceased operations after only a few months due to an exploding bomb while testing rounds outside of the building! Lake Havasu City became an incorporated municipality on January 1, 1926. In 1960, when Phoenix was designated as the country's new center for federal services under President John F Kennedy's New Frontier program, Havasu City became one of six cities within Phoenix to receive municipal assistance with funding for local agencies including housing projects, education programs and public works projects such as streetcars and water systems. In 1984, Lake Havasu City annexed Mohave County which made it easier to maintain social services within its boundaries while also providing more tax revenue to help support those efforts

Over time, other groups migrated here including Mormons in 1847, Gadsden Purchase colonists in 1854, Hispanics from Mexico during 1912-1914 and Japanese American citizens during World War II. From 1902 until 1924, Lake Havasu City was known as Scottsdale before becoming Phoenix's official city status when both cities amalgamated into one entity under Public Law 20-404 on November 3, 1924. On January 1st 1959, Phoenix became an unincorporated community within Pima County which still exists today as a result of incorporation by vote of public school trustees on November 5th 1959 after being disestablished by state law on October 25th 1958 due to lack of voter support for annexation into Phoenix proper. In 1994 voters approved Proposition 210 which changed Lake Havasu City's charter from an open-air park operated by the county to a municipally run city with more democratic processes and more autonomy over spending decisions than any other Arizona municipality subject to referendum or electionElection results were announced on February 26th 1995 with 53% approvals against 38% opposition for changing charter from open air park to municipally run with less budgetary independence
