Kingman, Arizona is a small town located in the Apache Nation region of southern Arizona. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The name Kingman comes from both its location on a peak overlooking the Arizonan desert and its history as a center for cattle operations and mining. In 1887, prospectors discovered gold and silver in what became Kingman County. Mining continued until about 1920 when production switched to uranium mining. Kingman is adjacent to two other smaller towns: Cottonwood and Navajo City which were founded as respectively Mormon settlements during the early days ofArizona's Gold Rush period (1869-1875). Mormon settlers arrived in large numbers beginning shortly after California obtained possession of Arizona from Mexico following Mexican independence from Spain on November 16, 1848. By 1860 over 50% of all Arizonans were Mormons living within territorial boundaries - more than any other group (apart from Mexicans). As Mormon settlement increased throughout most of the late 19th century they soon outgrew cottonwoods and Navajos began arriving as well -Queen's Heights being one notable example near Flagstaff which had first been developed near Dodge City by John Waddell around 1850 CE

The orchards were located near what is now Interstate 10 and remain largely intact today though most of the buildings have been replaced by more recent structures over time including two high schools (Kingman High School and Kingsville HS), a library, two hospitals (University Medical Center/Phoenix Memorial Hospital and Valley Medical Center), several shopping malls (including one on Indian Wells Road), several small businesses including an ice cream parlor, three supermarkets (Albertsons/Plymouth Ranch Plaza Supermarket, Safeway/Super Target Plaza Supermarket, Kroger/Kroger Plaza) as well as numerous restaurants such as Oklahoma Joe's BBQ & More., Gatorade World Headquarters restaurant chain which also has distribution centers throughout North America both inside and outside of Kingman;resenting evidence that even during times when much larger urban areas had their own retail districts within their borders smaller towns often thrived while larger cities simply collapsed or went out of business completely;several golf courses including Mission Hills Country Club - one being located just south of downtown - Aspen Hills Golf Course to the north east across from Interstate 10 Airport;and Scottsdale Municipal Airport about 20 miles to the west providing air travel opportunities for residents near Phoenix although it should be noted that there also existed considerable commuting activity taking place within nearby Maricopa County;all these features contributing to what once again remains one of central points for agriculture production in southwestern Arizona despite its remote location making it difficult for some residents to get involved directly whereas others actively engaged in agricultural production through other means such as renting land or owning shares in companies doing this type of business
Kingman, Arizona was founded by John Kingman in 1867. The town was named after General George Armstrong Custer, who died in 1876 while on a campaign in the area. In 1907, Kingman became the first city in Arizona to be incorporated. The city experienced rapid growth during the 1920s and 1930s as a result of its role as an agricultural center and its access to federal land. However, during World War II, Kingman's economydeclined due to restrictions placed on the town from the government. After the war, local businesses began to recover and Kingman reached its peak as a commercial center. However, over time it has become less prevalent as farming activity has declined and population growth has outpaced economic development.
