"Queen City" designation comes from a 1907 article about Queen Creek which ran through town: 'This creek flows through picturesque country which makes an admirable foundation for evidences of early human habitation...It will take some time before we can say definitely whether or not there ever were any Indians living hereabouts, but if so they must have been very small ones.'" After years of growth and progress made possible through annexation by other cities including Scottsdale (1926), Chandler (1929), Glendale (1934) and Tempe (1965), Kingman finally achieved its present size with 10,552 residents according to2010 census figures - larger than any previous city within Pinal County! Today businesses abound throughout downtown areas such as Main Street/Downtown Plaza where you'll find banks, restaurants and other commercial businesses located right next door to each other providing plenty of opportunity for shoppers everywhere!
