In 1907 Kingman was made a city by act of Congress after first being proposed in 1909 by Mayor Alfred Wojtaszek. The city had 1,500 residents when it became a city but today has over 11,000 residents due to various expansions including annexations from neighboring towns such as Flagstaff which increased its population from 2,000 to 5,000 within 10 years! Today many businesses operate within the limits of Kingman including agricultural products (fruits and vegetables), health care services (medical offices/clinics), banking (including two large banks) as well as retail stores for all types of consumers both small town-style mom-and-pop operations as well as big box store chains like Macy's or Walmart! Additionally there are several universities located within walking distance including one that offers graduate level degrees in business administration, marketing, architecture or engineering; another offers undergraduate degrees in law enforcement/police science; while still another provides training for military members! All told this makes it an extremely diverse community with plenty to offer everyone who wants something!

Kingman is a small town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,614 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tucson metropolitan area. The first European to visit Kingman was Father Francisco Xavier de Sahagun in 1769. He named it Pima City after his patron saint, Pima Creek flowed through the town. In 1872, gold was discovered in what is now Kingman and on July 19th of that year, $5,000 worth of gold were found when workers prospecting for lead near the old mill site. The discovery led to a great influx of settlers into the area and by 1880 there were over 100 people living in Kingman. On December 10th of 1886 Jens Jensen became the first person to die while working as an American miner in Arizona when he fell 25 feet (9 m) down a ravine inside Castle Canyon National Monument while prospecting for silver. In 1907 Charles Wickersham opened up one of the first businesses in Kingman which was a general store called "The Gilded Age Store". From 1908-1910 Emperor Franz Joseph I visiting Phoenix made stops at The Gilded Age Store and ordered goods delivered directly from Vienna via horseback ride to his palace complex including some 400 barrels of oil that had been shipped overland from Texas! On May 12th 1909 during World War I General John Pershing visited The Gilded Age Store with his staff and purchased supplies for troops stationed nearby at Camp Verde After World War II agriculture replaced industry as primary growth driver in Kingman until 1990 when construction began on Interstate 8 which severed communication between Tucson and Kingman; this led to significant reductions in population growth rate within town limits allowing for more housing development around school districts Today there are only a few hundred residents remaining who continue to rely heavily on commercial employment opportunities within immediate proximity
