Goodyear, Arizona is a city located in Mohave County, Arizona. The population was 116 at the 2010 census. Goodyear was founded in 1912 by A.W. Goodyear and W.H. Hays as a sheep and cattle ranch town on the site of what is now downtown Goodyear. The town became an important center for ammunition production during World War I, and Goodyear's first grocery store opened in 1916. Ammunition manufacturing continued to be a majorstay of the economy until the early 1970s when demand for firearms declined due to changes in technology and military spending patterns worldwide. In 1974, the last factory in Goodyear closed its doors after thirty years of production; however, ammunition production has continued intermittently through various companies still operating within the city limits today.
